Talking S4 and S5 Interior Differences

I have a Black 88 Vert and it has the dull grey interior. I would like to make all grey parts Black. The only way i want to do it is by using the s5 black interior parts. I DO NOT WANT TO USE DYE OR PAINT AT ALL! Due to the fact that the color can be slightly darker or lighter on some parts. But I need to Know if this is possible. What parts will be Intergangeable. Im talkin like dash all the vents, door panels, carpet, trim and rear cargo deck lid, and also the trunk plastic peices adn carpet. Also If the s5 door panels are interchangeable can the s4 door panel look be used don't like the s5 speaker location. Can show pictures if it helps expain things better.

the headlights and turn signals will need to be rewired if you want to use the s5 surround.
also, the radio surround will have to use the s5 shifter surround as well, as they dont lineup at all.

Convertibles are a little better than coupes...

However most Convertible parts are not interchangeable with coupes.

For example the coupe door panels are different, and would need to be trimmed/modified to fit a convertible, in addition S5 (89-92) door panels have the speaker in an entirly different location than S4 (88) convertibles.

The only common part would be the main dash pad and glove box between the series and coupes vs 88 and 89 convertibles.

So the following parts would be interchangable between S5 coupes and a 88 convertible:

The dash pad
The glove box
the headlight switch
the dash speaker covers and dash trim
seats
Kick panels
Running board covers
Vent trim
radio and shifter trim (requires S5 dash vents though)
Steering surround

The following parts would not be interchangable between a 89-91 coupe and a 88 convertible without modifications (and in some cases even with modification they still wouldn't work):
Door panels
Dome lights
Visors
header
A pillar covers
B pillar covers
Carpet
All rear trim
wiper switch
Turn signal switch
Cruise control switch
Center consol glove box
dash/gauges
Gauge surround (unless you used a S5 turn switch and rewired the harness and changed the Cruise control computer and used a S5 cruise switch and rewired them)

The following parts would be interchangable between a 89-92 convertible and a 88 convertible:
Seats
All rear trim
Carpet
Kick panels
running boards
A pillar trim
B pillar trim
headliner
Head trim
Rear veiw mirror
Glove box
Dash trim (89 only)
Dash (89 only)

And your bump has been deleted. Bumps are forbidden here in the 2nd gen technical section.

Sorry if i was unclear but all I really want to do is to change all the part that are grey in the S4 Vert to Black interior pieces like that of the s5 Vert.

Parts Included:

(Note All part are for a Vert)

Carpet
Center console
Dash Vents
Dash
Rear Package Tray
Targa Headliner
Door Panels
Seat Belts
Kick Panels
Glove Box
Rear Package Tray side Trim
Trim That runs along the Convertible Top Bar
Hinge Pin Covers
A-Pillar Trim

Need to know what parts above are Interchangeable Between S4 And S5 Verts
Also I like the look of the s4 vert door panels wondering if s5 Armrests, and top panel with door handle and vent can be used on a S4 door panel(The fiber Board panel with perforated leather) Thought I if this was possible just to get the panel reupulstered with black or red leather that way I could retain the s4 door panel and speaker location look.

Hopefully This clears upeverthing

The last list is what Icemark gave you... S4 and S5 vert.

The following parts would be interchangable between a 89-92 convertible and a 88 convertible:
Seats
All rear trim
Carpet
Kick panels
running boards
A pillar trim
B pillar trim
headliner
Head trim
Rear veiw mirror
Glove box
Dash trim (89 only)
Dash (89 only)

While we're on this topic... what interior parts are swapable between an S4 and S5 coupe? Particularly, an S5 N/A and an S4 TII?

Thanks,
Josh

Thanks guess I just misread what Icemark was saying I had asked Icemark if the carpet was interchangeable a while ago and he told me that they were not bcuz the holes were different. Hopefully not though so I can use the s5 carpet. figured the seats were the same and does not matter cuz Im getting two tone black w/ red inside leather seats from Leatherseats.com. This is why I want an all black interior bcuz I plan on red accents in the interior and grey and red just looks ugly.

Well, I have S5 carpet in an S4 TII... it doesn't cover up "completely", but it looks better than blue. One place in particular is the plastic of the bins near the door... the plastic support for the bins shows... and also in some other places the white of the body of the car shows. But, I'll take it and "fix it" over the blue. Also, the rear hatch lights behind the rear speakers (not the one mounted on the hatch strut)... the S5 ones... I got those to throw in my S4 as well... I'll wire them up someday. : ) Not sure if all the plastic pillar pieces from an S5 are going to match up because of differences in the seatbelts and whatnot. Might have to get those from an S4.

Remember I will be doing this for an s4 vert not a coupe which doesn't have the bins or the retractable seatbelts so everything if used right will match for my car.

90 and 91 convertibles have a drivers air bag, so the trim around the gauges is different (stalk controls rather than flippers) and the lower dash re-enforcement is different so that the steering wheel can not colapse and you can not submarine under the dash.

Glove box is the same though (except later versions got the cheapo non-flecked glove box interior),

no, there still are differences as mentioned above.

remember the verts use different carpet kits as well. Coupe (S4 or S5) kits fit convertibles... but don't fit perfect with the additional re-enforcements that the verts have..

Speaking of which - I cannot find a source for a carpet for a Vert - does anyone know of one?

I saw one on ebay the other day.

But what I did on mine was I got one of the ultra light aftermarket 86-87 coupe front carpet kits, and just used a heat gun to modify/stretch the section of the carpet behind the seats so that it lays better over the big rib/supports.
