How can you tell if a TII engine is an s4 or an s5? What should you look at?

 

Is the engine original and does it still have the accesories on it? If so there are alot of ways to tell.

 

check the tps sensor.the S4's had only one and S5's have two.one more way to tell is look at the OMP.S4's have a mechanical pump,S5's are computer controlled.

 

i think s5's have a knock sensor and s4's don't? i might be wrong, i'm a newb

 

twin scroll actuator, turbo footprint, exhaust manifold, intercooler, tps, knock sensor...

 

anything else im also trying to tell the difference

 

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the UIM look different, too?

 

did you read my last post? if you cant tell by any of those things i mentioned then you need to get rid of your rx-7 and get a honda

 

if i am not mistaken doesn't the s5 fan has 10 blades and the s4 has 8, also check the OMP, s4 has a long rod attached to the throttle body and the s5 is electric.
Dont forget to check the headlight fluid, s4 has none and the s5 should have quite a bit.

 

don't you hate it when the excess headlight fluid drains into your taillights???

 

S4 has a knock sensor threaded to the center iron, near the oil neck, whereas S5's have (one?) threaded into rotor housing above the spark plugs.
