Question S4 really necessary?

Ok so I had ordered a TII S4 engine because i have an 88 vert. But they called me and told me they were out of stock but hey have a really nice S5 engine they can send me.

The package includes engine, tranny, harness and ECU. Will it mount right still? is there a difference?

well to my understanding you are doing a full turbo swap into your S4 NA vert, so you were going to order the complete deal: harness, ecu, engine, trans, everything.

the S5 differs from the S4, in the electronics mostly. so yes, they are different. if you were going to change EVERYTHING to begin with, i can see no problem with going S5. the S5 makes more power anyways.

basically what it boils down to is if you ALREADY had a S4 turbo and wanted to get S5 swap, it would be a big hassle to try and meld the 2 together. but as said, if you are replacing ALL of it, should be no issue!

Read up here: http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n..._s5_diffs.html

The s5 harness wont mate up the the s4 dash plugs.

You need to get an s4 engine and accessories if you don't plan on running a standalone.

Yeah no ****. I know that, and if he read the link he could figure that out. I was just correcting what the other guy said and giving him a link to the whole deal.

Even if you swap the harness and the CPU the s4 dash connectors wont work with the s5 harness connectors.

But seriously dude, how was I wrong and not knowing anything by what I posted, where was the false information?

converting the harnesses is pretty simple i have a thread on how to covert the harness to get the S5 to work in the S4 car, there'd be a few differances cuz yours is a vert

Mine runs mint!

if your good with wiring you could do it all in about 2-3 hours....if not alittle longer but its definitely alot less work than switching over all your sensors and ****!
and you don't have to use the "inferior" S4 parts lol

Just use that post, and the S4 and S5 FSM's and you'll be good to go!

I'm not saying this to be a *****, but if you don't know enough about the differences between the two engines and two chassis' then you shouldn't try and swap between the generations. Your best bet and easiest swap is to keep an s5 engine with an s5 car or s4 engine with an s4 car. If that isn't possible, then convert an s5 engine into an s4 engine (specifically electronics).... or s4 engine into an S5 engine (also electronics).

I guess re-pinning the dash harness is a small price to pay if all other things are included. Go for it. You probably need a standalone to make everything work properly. You have the electric OMP to deal with, but I suppose if you changed the whole harness & computer than it shouldn't be an issue. Good Luck!!

i realize the 2 mount exactly alike but these were mainly questions involving the harness i was pretty sure it would mount the same i just wanted to make sure

heres the simple answers:
will it mount into you car: YES
will the s5 electronics work inan s4:no the dash wiring is different
would it be beneficial to get the s5 engine and go standalone:yes.
basically if youwant an easier swap get an s4
and yes you'll need the t2 engine harness and ecu

ya i know i would need the ecu, but if i bought s4 t2 motor, it would just need the harness swapped to the ecu instead of the entire harness swap as in the s5

the S5 motor will mount in but the S5 have a different transmission crossmember and bracket.....i bought them brand for 90 bucks from the mazda dealership

if you want an S5 to work PROPERLY in an S4 car you have to just splice on the S5 ecu plug onto the S4 chassis harness and splice in the 2 FEM connectors onto the S5 engine harness like in my thread ,get the S5 boost sensor, S5 MAF, and S5 ecu and your good to go

with the S4n/a to S4 TII there is a few minor things you have to change on the harness you would have to search for the exact things but i think you have to run wires for the knock sensor
