(s4:n/a)Help me minimize clutter under my hood (block off plates and such).

So swapping my car fell through the cracks, for now. Instead, i'm going to play with my rotary for a while. Maybe it will grow on me more and i'll decide to keep it.

Today was warm enough to work on my car in shorts and a tshirt so i did just that.

My car is a mess. Most of you that saw my build thread (which i'm about to start a v2 version of soon) saw what i had to deal with. Alot of stuff missing.

What turned into a basic removal of my fuel injectors and a half-assed search on google turned into this thread.

BAC valve: Coolant in the intake manifold, eh? I've seen block off kits for it. Lets do that.

EGR: I want that gone.

OMP: I was going to get a rebuild kit from pineapple but noticed leaks on all of my lines. It's a mess. Then i noticed vac lines. Hmmm. I could do without that mess. Would sure make working on the engine easier. It would eliminate ALOT of clutter.

I have no air pump so the air control valve doesn't need to be there either. I found that coolant was leaking from it onto my exhaust manifold after the car warmed up. I have no other explanation for the dark burn spot (scrapes off easy with a fingernail) directly below one of the LEFT OPEN PORTS on the valve. Also, no work was required to remove the gasket from the engine. It looked as though moisture had destroyed it and i dont think the bolts were tight enough. Another strike on the owner before the previous owner.

Anything else anyone thinks is up for removal i'm all ears NOW while i have stuff apart?

Accessories like ps/ac/heat is something i'd like to keep since this will be my daily for a while. It doesn't get below freezing too often here so the cold start assist tank and lines can go?

Will all this stuff i'm pulling off throw a cel? Will it make the car run in limp mode?

No, it won't make it run in limp mode. That's only for s5's.

Removing and blocking off the emissions can make the idle and the warm up a finicky thing to deal with though. I elected to remove the OMP and you can see that and details in my sig. I didn't want to remove the egr because I read some bad things about it. The BAC valve removal is a good idea since it really does nothing anyway. I think I'll try that in a bit.

Edit: Here's a link for you to look at: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=acv+removal

From your diagram, it looks like i wont be needing those 4 solenoids sitting on the passenger topside of the keg.........

Cool.

May keep egr, will dig more on that RIGHT NOW actually and see what i come up with.

Question. Thermowax for the 3000rpm startup whatnot is activated by coolant IIRC. Since i can hit 3000rpm with my foot or just let the car idle at 900-1000rpms on it's own, i dont need any coolant lines at all going to the intake, do i?

Nah. Like you said you can help it with a little throttle if you need to. The main thing is to let the engine warm a little before you beat on it.

Yep. I was told that a few weeks before i got the car. Let it warm up properly, cool down properly and do the 3000rpm shutdown religiously.

If i remembered anything about my rotary, it was that.

Hopefully all my bases get covered and when i order, i order everything once.

Oh and a big shout out to banzai racing for having all the plates i need, premade and in full. Well, it would be nice to not have to use normal bolts for my intake side oil nozzles but no big deal. Protecting the rotating assembly is my highest priority.

Did you get the bolts from them? You need 10mm-1.25. Only about 6mm long though.

Their kit comes with everything. I had to double check and make sure.

No bolts. Allen key plugs. Pretty much retard proof which is great because i'm not exactly the "guy to ask" when it comes to rotary stuff. I know what i need to know and learn what i need to learn. Most of this **** isn't specified in my 6 dvd set of rebuilding 13b's. Sometimes, i watch them just the lull me to sleep. You ask me to build you a keg from nothing and i'll do it blindfolded. Most of the stuff stuck to it i am at a loss. Even with a haynes.

I appreciate your help. Alot.

No problem. Just curious though. Does it come with four plugs or two? When I looked at it, it was back ordered and it only came with two plugs.

get rid of all of it. the ONLY thing i would consider keeping is the BAC.

i don't run any of that equipment. my idle is a bit sketchy and i have to nurse it a bit when i first start up the car...otherwise no problems.

Oh, yeah. The three coolant lines i pulled, one is for the cold start so i obviously know enough to remove that with the the tank.

The other two i'll just loop. I may use them for a turbocharger later on. I thought about tapping them for block off screws but i never know what will effect whatever plan is in my head at the time. Lol.

Found more **** that's going byebye.

Thermo wax.

Secondary butterflies and spring.

Oh, and all those stupid hard vac lines. I'll run some new fuel hose to have my return/feed lines going straight to the hardlines by the oil filter.

I ripped a good bit of junk off the car today. All the omp system solenoids, soft lines and injectors. Haven't pulled the omp off yet.

This is fun!!!!! I hope it runs when i put it back together!!!!!
