S4 motor with S5 LIM & UIM... i got some ?'s

Ok well, the story is I bought my motor thinking I was going to get a S5 T2 motor and the guy gave me a S4 T2 motor, S5 tranny, S5 ecu and a T2 rear end and driveshaft. I called him and told him that I wanted a S5 and he told me that he would give me a S5 lower and upper intake manifold. Im going to tell him that i want a S5 motor and tranny, the whole thing, but I wanted your guys opinions, could I run the S4 motor with a S5 ecu? Whats all your guys opinions on this, should I bitch and get the S5 motor or just take a LIM and UIM?

thanks,
Miles

Yes, it'll work, though I'd still aim for the s5 short block.

if you paid for a full s5 setup, then you need to push for a full s5 setup, or to get your money back. ALL of it.

i have a s4 TII motor with jspec s5 upper and lower intakes ...

it works, but im experienceing a HUGE whistle now, and after replacing EVERY single vac line and cap, its still there ... so im thinking its the manifolds not meeting properly or something ... they fit, but there is a very slight difference in the two ... when landers rebuilds my engine soon, im going to bring him the s4 upper and lower intakes and have them use those when he puts it back together .... just in case that is whats causing the whistle ... i hope thats not what is causing it, but im doing it for peace of mind

others have done it, and had it work, but ive made several posts about it before i put mine on and not many people replyed to it ...

good luck with all that

well i paid 2k for the motor, tranny, driveshaft, rearend and ecu. Do you guys think thats too much or what? I mean if using a S4 block and s5 upper and lower intake manifolds will work with a S5 ecu, then i guess I will do it because i really need a car, im suck of bummin rides off of people.

Youll need the S5 front cover to mount the electric OMP.The S5 ECU wont function without the electric metering pump. There are other differences with the S4-S5 controls and electronics too.Id try to get the entire S5 setup.Less hassle, better controls, smarter ECU and a check engine light for diagnosis.....

You can use a N/A front cover, but youll have to drill and tap for the turbo oil drain, change the drain tube slightly and it still has to be for the correct style OMP(86-88 or 89-91).
