s4 mani/turbo on my 12a, solenoid operation q's...

Hiya fellas! I just thought I'd pop into the 2g section to ask you all about what you know best.

As stated in the title, I'm running an S4 TII manifold and turbocharger on my 1st gen 12a. The flapper and solenoid for the twin scroll seems to be in good shape, but I've been reading that it is both ECU AND vacuum controlled.

Obviously I'm not going to be controlling it with any ECU on my car, so I'm wondering: Will it still work (open/close at high/low RPM) on vacuum alone, where I can just leave it alone, or should I remove it all becuase it's not going to work anyway?

Are there any advantages/disadvantages to doing either? Thanks for your informative replies.

Timmy

Sounds good to me. I'll start on that project tomorrow then. Thank you.

It won't work without a solenoid valve and an rpm switch to control it. It's a simple system and very easy to set-up.

It's there to reduce low-rpm lag, so without it you'll have a less responsive turbo.
