S4:How can I tell if my metering pump's really working?

the rod only pulls it up like a quarter to a half of an inch. Its been almost a thousand miles and the oil hasnt had to be topped off. The car has 65k and runs like a raped ape, I dont want any early damage occuring obviously so I was wondering how I could tell it is working for sure

Read the FSM, it tells how to test it.

http://www.iluvmyrx7.com download the 88 manual OIL SECTION. The injectors are NOT prone to fail closed. When they fail the inject more than needed oil. Basically you take the banjo bolts out at the omp and watch the oil drip while the engine is idling and you pull up on the rod/arm. There is a specific rigging procedure for the rod vs the throttle opening.

well when my throttle is open all I know is that it only moves the OMP about a quarter inch where the rod connects to it, Id say a quarter to a half an inch, is this normal, or Im I being cut short?

(Bump)

I was actually wondering, when I bought my car months ago, I noticed it did not drink any oil at all. Its only recently I started using pre-mix.

I'm wondering, what damage could have been done? The rotors all have great compression and the engine makes good power, so I'm wondering, will this come and bite me some time in the furure?

What part of *READ THE PROCEDURE IN THE FSM* is not being understood??? Also check to see if the oil injectors are working. It's in the fsm also.

Note, all I'm asking is what damage was done by a non functioning MOP.

Rotor tip seal damage is the concern.
If you have good compression, it starts and runs well, then you don't have that problem.

Chatter marks on the rotor housing and worn apex seals can result from a non-functioning MOP.
