s4 front bumper removal
s4 front bumper removal
is there anyone who may have a video or pictures of removing the front bumper on a s4 cause i think the only thing holding my bumper on now is that plate in between the fender and bumper im not sure but any help is appreciated!
not 100% sure if the S5 and S4 mounting points differ, but on my S5 there were a total of 11 bolts/nuts
the 5 up top under the hood, then the 3 on each side behind the inner fender linings

Aren't there also two (one per side) right at the very top beneath the headlights?
Seems like I recall having to raise the lights and remove the lower plastic trim to access them...

5 along the front top
3 on each side to the fenders
5 along the undertray
4 along the lip to fenders
2 or 4 to the brake airdams, i forget
just do the pull and unbolt method, it's easy to tell if you missed anything. the only difficulty is the bumper to fender studs get hung up and sometimes you have to use man arms to yank the bitch off(some people have girl arms, sorry if you have girl arms as i did not mean to offend you).

Should be obvious just looking at it. They're all 10mm and you'll need an extension.
Spray some wd40 on there because you don't want to strip the thread. Most likely they're all rusted.

The top bolt on the fender/bumper is a beotch too...and ya they do strip or break.
I have had to actually try to separate the two parts as much as possible and cut the threaded part off with a hacksaw.
That leaves you with going to Mazda and getting those brackets again..OR fabbing up a way to get the fender/bumper back together once you replace it.
The top corner is where is tight unless you have the whole inner fender lining off.
A universal joint helps there. I'd get one but with a friction joint. If you've ever used a non friction joint under a car or in tight spaces, you'll know why.
All cars has it's pros and cons. This is nothing compared to a 300zx TT or a VW VR6... now THOSE cars SUCK to work on.
Just have to remember that these are 25+ yrs old so anything that looks rusted /corroded needs wd40 or penetrating oil . You can't just gorilla the nuts off.
You are probably trying to loosen the wrong bolt, there are only 3 for the bumper but another one or two are visible and they are different size and not for the bumper
they usually break the stud it shouldnt be too hard, unless you are on the wrong nut
