I have done a fair bit of searching and come up empty-handed. I have an 86 gxl I have been working on over the winter and the time is coming to get the engine all hooked up and see if she fires, however, I have come to realize I don't know how the engine harness is routed in the engine bay so that all the wires plug in comfortably. Could someone snap a picture of their engine bay with the stock path the wires take and post it here or direct me to a post that describes the process of actually hooking the harness up?
It is an NA and I did an initial search here at first but eventually found that if you use the rough pictures in the fsm and use the pics on rotary ressurection's website about removing the vacuum rack you can get a good idea of how to do it.
It come through the firewall on the passenger side of the engine bay. from there it enters the engine at the front of the engine, behind the water pump/thermostat housing, in between the UIM and LIM.
The 1st gen does that too. Why did mazda have the harness cross over at the front of the motor? Was it to keep wiring away from the heat at the back of the engine bay?
And my god that photo is giving me a headache just looking at it.
