S4 Automatic Overdrive Problem...
My 87 NA has a consistant bog/hesitation ONLY with the overdrive engaged.
Typically, the rpm would be in the 3-3,500 rpm range and with light to moderate
throttle input. Also, when in overdrive, there seems to be a intermittant, (slight)
fluctuation in rpm when cruising at a steady 65-70 mph as noted by watching the
tack. Not sure if the problems are related but looking for suggestions on weather
I should look into the tps, or auto/ecu computer grounds as potential areas to
look at. Tranny has clean fluid at the proper lever and shifts fine through all
gears. Also, the overdrive engages, disengages perfectly. I know there's not to
many folks with automatics, but any leads/tips would be appreciated as I am
preparing for a 1,400 mile trip in a week.
