S4 Apexi Power FC Harness Adapter
Hmm... I like the idea of this, but do not have a whole lot of knowledge about engine management systems. So, this isn't that hard to install for the S4? What exactly is EVERY advantage of the PFC? Will this be available soon? I skimmed a bit through the whole thread. I will consider the PFC as a route when purchasing an EMS for my S4, but would like to see results.
I would also like to add in that I saw this on Ebay:
FC3S - PFC

The $1500 price tag is why we designed this.
The S4 will not be available until we finish establishing a base tuning map. The PFC has too many advantages over the stock system to list. If a nutshell it "Replaces the factory ECU and controls all engine parameters."

So my search of ebay shows that the pfc for fc3s is now going for almost $1500 +$300 for the commander do you know if there is a place to get them cheaper because I really need one to manage all of my aftermarket parts?

According to your profile you have an S4, so you would not be able to install the AP unit in your car anyway. Which is another reason why we are developing the S4 adapter kit.

BlueT2,
I was re-reading this post again and on the first page you said there is no need for the TPS. Did you mean there is no need for the FD TPS or can it be removed all together? I'm in the process of swapping to ITBs, that's why I'm asking.

I think this is another great option for people.
Haltech is a beast to tune for the EMS novice. It's defintely a scary step to go from OEM ECU to start from scratch EMS.
I think the PFC and Rtek is that great middle point where you have base maps and some of the tuning abilities of the big boys without getting way over your head.
As for the harness debate.
I've fixed/wired plenty of stock harnesses and most of them are fine. Wires have nearly 0 resistance and are still pretty flexible.
I have no doubt my harness would work great with a PFC.

Ted did make a great point about the harness; wiring is half the reason why most owners go with a standalone.
Then again we all know FC owners, chances are this will be a better alternative for those trying to make budget race cars...
Nice to see someone offering this choice nonetheless...
ummm...harness is the last reason i want stand alone, idk about u but most ppl i know going stand alone is so that they can support the modifications done to the engine efficiently!
Okay, good news we installed the Power FC in an 88 TII today with our s4 adapter harness kit. The only thing that makes the install different from the S5 is that the fuel pump needs to be wired to a relay. I think that most people that are at the point where they are installing a standalone most likely have already rewired their pump with a 30amp relay. If not there will be a how-to onl our website. We will let everyone know when the pages have been added and the kit is available for purchase.
It will be sometime tomorrow.

I'm sure you have all seen this thread started by HAILERS pertaining to attacking the hot start problem. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/looking-car-has-hot-start-problems-499744/ wheather you have hot start or not. It happens, ofcorse the reason could be a number of things. I've done this mod and it works like a charm.. Doing this mod doesn't bother me for a temporary bandaid fix. What does is the fact that I couldn't trace down the cause of the problem (mainly lack of time) because it happened so randomly, and it appears it started randomly with many of these people. in some cases it appears to be the cause of slightly low compression yet even on all faces.
My question, is it probable this power FC could eliminate hot start problems for the people experiencing them. how would a car with hot start effect the performance of this power FC?

If you have decent compression then it will most likely fix the problem, as with installation of most standalones. However, we haven't tested it on a car with a hot start issue yet.
We've done a little more testing and believe that we've eliminated the need to install a fuel pump relay. We're holding off on the release for a couple more days to do a little more testing to hopefully eliminate the need for an FD igniter. This will apply to both the S4 and the S5 application.

This will eliminate the use of the air flow meter, and stock TPS right? I'm just not a fan of the stock TPS. And will it also allow me to facilitate the use of my mechanical oil pump without problem?

Sounds right up my alley then....with the exception of the TPS. Now, if I were to upgrade my intake manifold to the S5 FC or the FD manifold, would I be able to run the TPS from those, as long as I get it wired correctly?
