s4/5 oil cooler,, flow backwards?

i have custom V setup and custom hose,, have a leak out of the fitting crimp
,, and my handy oil hose spares dictate by lengths that i have to swap them around to make do

ie,, currently OEM flow is out timing cover to the banjo on ( oem ) top of the oil cooler
( mine is flat mounted ) ,, and out the banjo on the side/ end of the oil cooler

i propose to go the other way
( cause if you grind the bottom of the PS bracket you can use an old school rx2/4 long oil cooler hose reversed as a longer replacement )

anybody see any reason why i cant hook the oil cooler lines the other way around
particulary in regards to the thermal bypass pellet?

myself suspect that the higher pressure side being reversed may work to hold the pellet closed ( closing the bypass during warmup )

dont think thats as big a problem as having the bypass always open
( its also not very cold where i live WA, oz, think texas )
but need to seek a few opinions and if see anyone has tried this before ?

Why not take a cut-off-wheel, slit the metal cimp on the lines and put your own rubber lines on? That way you can run them were you want, however you want.

Or take them to your local hydraulic shop and they can build you new ones with whatever length hoses that are necessary

its my only transport and hydraulic shop at 20 km away- is just a little too far to walk

you think i wouldnt take that option if was avail to me?
besides it is their shitty crimp that is leaking on a reasonably new hose

has anyone run the oil cooler backwards? i cant be the only one with a custom setup and lines

Any way to shim the pellet to simulate full open all the time? Sorry, I think I've thrown all my old spare coolers away and can't physically look at one (bypass valve)).

i now have them swapped around atm and first glance tells me oil pressure is a little higher at warm idle indicating a small bypass
( will have to go for longer drive and gauge the idle oil pressure later )

i have a spare cooler that i will crack open and look see
but realistically think i will limp through and get a hose made come monday

i dont think its a real issue,, as expect both these banjo coolers and the later thermostat type for early rxs would have been swapped backwards many times

was thinking though that its an opportunity for trapped stuff that went through the pump and previously lodged in the fins will be back flushed to the oil filter
,, which is pretty fresh and hopefully not on bypass and thus not be an issue
