The entire thing started because the owner of the s2000 told me that there was no way my rx-7 could keep up with hin unless I go turbo, that my car was acient technology, and started talking crap about the rotary, this is all for fun, its not a do or die thing, I had all the parts lying in my garage from a race car I tore apart and sold the rolling chassis( except the SAFC I use a haltec for that car)
theres some things I will take of the car after the trip that make the car uncorfortable for street use, and I will put the AC back in

Id be willing to say itll be a damn good race. Looking forward to the outcome. From a 70 roll my 87 NA with single RB 2.5 exhaust and SAFC tune kept door to door with a 6 speed rx8 with either a greddy or HKS exhaust... My FC was only dynoing 146 at the wheels. An M3 only pulled me 2 cars from 70 - 120 just last week. People tend to forget that alot of racing is driver ability and knowledge of the car. Good luck crazy! let us know how it ends

The S2K owner is probably right, unless his driving is quite lame. 200hp - we talking wheel, or bhp? Because an S2K will walk a Turbo II if the turbo's not modded, an honest 240 bhp, and about the same weight, probably about 100lb less than a vert. Plus, stock his suspension is has vastly better geometry - even going to coilovers won't change that, struts and semi-trailing arms are a bag of compromises the S2K doesn't start with. And the gearing in the S2K is crazy low too - turns something like 4500rpm at 60mph in 6th.
I'm a good competition driver (routinely jump in other people's cars and lay down faster autocross/lap times than they do). My NA sport can't begin to keep up with stock S2K's even on an smaller lot autocross, where HP is much less a factor, even with my exhaust, coilovers, 350/275in/lb springs, and so on. And on the same course, I'll swap with an S2K driver and lay down a faster time than he did in his car, trouncing his and my time in the 7. As was said previously, the S2k is just a much purer sports car - benefiting from 15 years of tech gain as well.
On the plus side, your friend's mods are pretty irrelevant - S2K's are so highly tuned from Honda that significant HP gains aren't to be found without adding boost - all exhaust and intake do is save a little weight or change the sound, or often hurt rather than improve power. All an S2K needs to improve it significantly is a heavier front bar to help keep the rear stable and planted to put power down - they're on the twitchy side stock.
Drop in a 250+hp turbo on your vert though, with careful suspension mods, and you could beat him, without having to rely on his being a crappy driver in the twisties.

nope, Im really happy with my car, most of the parts I had them around afther I sold my race car, the thing is I dont like to be told what I can and can not do, the guy is a dick, he love to make fun of others peoples cars, and he said that there was no way an fc could keep up with he's s2000 unless its turbo, I like proving people wrong, I like a challenge
If I can get a bit over 200rwhp Im sure I can keep up, I donit really care if I cn win or not I just want to keep up, and since I had all the parts, what the heck

Fact of the matter is, the guy probably has some sort of short coming he wants to fulfill in wanting to flaunt his not so cool and not so badass s2000, and probably races 94 civics all day long. Consider the RX7 was constructed as a direct competitor to the porsche 944, which is a very nice car for its day. What was the S2000 built to compete with? You got me, maybe a miata?
