If you hit 200wHP you'll be about 5 shy of him. Thanks to your heavy vert you might be even more behind (or have you lightened it?). OTOH the s2000's VTEC is a bit extreme even compared to your 5th and 6th ports (i.e., significantly lower power until it kicks in), so you might have the advantage off the line.

lol, I love how everyones telling the thread starter to make his car faster by making more power. Good friend of mine has an 06 EVO 8 and can't keep up with me on a local 5 mile twisty, simply because I know the road better, have more experience driving on it and I'm not afraid to push my car close to its limit. This obviously isn't a damn drag race.
You can either race to where you're getting around the corner and waiting for the straightaways or take the corners and gun it through the straightaways. Drive your car on the mountain hard, practice rev matching and engine braking. Get used to braking hard and getting the most out of the brakes on every turn, and being in the right gear in the powerband. In NA's you have to make sure you're at 5500-8000 RPM the entire time because you don't make much under that. Most importantly get really good tires and get used to them, that will make the biggest difference.
And of course be careful, have fun and bring your car back in one piece

I applaud the taking on of the challenge for the sake of it. I gotta say though, to blow away anything for outright speed and manuverability in the twisties get a sportbike. Then you can laugh as you sit at the end of the road for 5 minutes waiting for him to catch up.

well I got some bad news and some good news:
the bad news is I race my father in law friend and the s2000 is faster, the good news is that its not by much, from a roll we where neck and neck with him pulling slowly from me, at the end of 4th gear he was one car in front of me, but fron a stop he beat me bad, this car is very dificult to lauch, either you bug down or get too much wheel spin, I was specting it since my set up is more road racing than drag racing, but since my challenge its to road race Im happy
I am verry happy with the result, I think the car is ready, I had 3/4 of a tank of fuel and was able to keep up in a strait line Im sure I can at least keep up with hin in the twisties
We will know afther this weekend, wish me luck

Yeah, pictures of you collection would be sweet, and good luck. Can't wait to get my 7 back. I'm curious of the hp gain from your mods, could you dyno that and post the results?

Thanks for all the good coments guys
Im not a millionare, I am a very lucky guy, every busines I make has done pretty good, a lot of hard work, being working since I was 14, I run my familys bussines( chemicals import and distribution) and have a couple others that are mine, mainly import and distribution and one cigar manufacturing plant
if you add the price's of all my cars youll see that it comes to about what a porche 911 or a BMW or something like that would cost

weight shaving is the only thing you failed to mention, with your mods that 1 thing will bring the 2 cars closer to the same level.
start by removing the basics like spare tire, cold start assist, A/C if you don't need it, aftermarket exhaust if you still have the duals, cruise control, alarm, etc etc etc.

I have no AC, the car has manual steering so no pump, no spare tire, remove all the carpet in the trunk and the spare, FD seats (they are a little lightter), I have a dual mufler set up but it is very light (corksport muflers), the car has aluminium turbo II hood, and for the "trip" I will put FD 16 inch wheels
my mods so far are:
street port
SAFC
RB aluminiun flywheel
RB 6 puck clucht
E fan
under drive main pulley
aluminiun rad
4.77 diff
RB headers with full exhaust, no cat no emisions
cone filter
short shifther
Tein coil overs
front strut tower bar
hawk brake pads
future mods if im not happy:
Haltec ecu
50mm ITB
miata or RX-8 trans

look into Pinneaple racing intake sleeves for a couple more HP. Tune that SAFC and try to remove as much weight as you can from the Vert.
rather than asking us if you can KEEP UP or BEAT him you should be telling us if your MODS helped. WE won't know until you tell us.
Good to see the rotary in the caribbean, I would LOVE to see pics of all your cars!!!

How about you just go out and race him on the public road and find out who would win, instead of bench racing. I mean what's the worst that could happen, one of you guys push your car past your/its limits and you cross the center line and hit an oncoming driver? Nothing bad...
