S-AFC Wire Stripping Question...

When wiring up my S-AFC to the ECU, all the instructions i've been reading say strip back the wire and clamp the S-AFC connections on with this little connectors without actually cutting the wire. I got mine used and it doesn't come with those, so I was wondering if I just cut the wires, stripped them, then soldered it all together if it would be fine or not? I've heard some kinds of wires have shielding on them and all that would make rewiring it a huge pain in the ***, so i'd like to know ahead of time before screwing something up. Thanks.

it would work fine, but it'd be a little harder if you want to remove the safc later

rick at rick's rotatry actually recomended soldering, he's had a few installs unclamp themselves.

mine's clamped with solder, so you should be just fine.

I solder just about everything I put in the car. The only disadvantage would come from trying to take the installed item out.

Solder is the best way. I soldered mine, even though I had the clamps available.

At our shop, Jeff, solders EVERYTHING when he does wires them in, has had some very bad experience with the other types of connectors, especially the "clamp" type that come with the kit.

With a SAFC having a wire come loose will typically mean that the unit fries unless the battery is disconnected.

soldering makes for a good connection...you get the assurance that it will be a good connection.
