head over to the RX-8 forums and see if anyone on there has had one off yet.

They might be able to tell you the O.D. of thier steering shaft and the spline count.....but even if it fits the steering shaft, it may be too deep/not deep enough to fit the steering column trim properly.

Is the S5 one smaller then the two spoke S4? It drives my nuts not having the spokes in the right place when I auto-x, and I always hit my legs.

its not smaller, but its nicer for sure, i really wish it was 350mm instead of (i think) 390mm, which is why i reccommend a Mazdaspeed knock off from Ebay, they're nice 350mm wheels.

^the size of the stock steering wheels are too big imo.... but im 6' tall so my that might be the reason why my legs always hit the steering wheel... im gonna go with sparco or nardi or momo... probably momo cuz they have some real niice leather wrapped wheels

My leather wrapped momo wheel is awesome. I love it.

But now whenever I get into a car with a stock (AKA HUGE) steering wheel it feels really clunky...

So something like this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/87-91...15746973QQrdZ1

It's tempting, but I don't want it to fall apart a week after getting it... although I've had pretty good luck buying cheap stuff from eBay.

Absolutely CANNOT be beat for the price........very strong (no flexing when reefing on it) and the materialfeels top notch in my mitts.

How hard is it to install, and does it require purchasing any other parts (aside from renting a steering wheel puller?) I've got a race this weekend and the next, so I'd like to try it for at least one of them.

pfff, you don't even need a puller really, just leave the nut on a few turns and reef the bitch off.

You only need the wheel and the hub adapter, thats it.

Sweet. I did look at the Momo wheels and don't feel that it's worth spending the money, I own a FC, not a FD. If I drove it daily and was more serious about competition driving I'd consider it, but for now I think the $50 option will work best for me.

When you purchased the wheel did it include the hub adaptor as well (from reading the description it looks like it does?) I did some quick reading and it seems I need to get one specifically made for the FC because of the blinker and power steering position sensor.

Well I bought mine from a local speed shop and got the removable hub insert also. But by the looks of the ebay one, it comes with the hub. But contact the seller just to be sure.

As long as you use just the hub and wheel, your distance from the turn signal switch will be the same as the factory. When I put my removable hub adaptor in, it moved it back about an 3/4 of an inch which took a few days to adjust to.
