I just built a Half Bridge port S5 T2 motor yesterday using the RX-8 stat gears and bearings.

And RB Type II Rear Stat. gear w/ 3-Window Bearing

Why didn't he just use both front and rear rx8 stat gears?

Let's say I did throw some Rx8 stat gears into my engine, what type of performance/reliability gains would I be seeing from this on a pretty much stock s5 t2 block, streetported with haltech?

You'll see absolutely no performance gain.

The only reason I put the RX-8 stat gears in this motor is because its a Half Bridge port, so it'll get revved higher than any normal T2. The RX-8 stat gears are hardened from the factory unlike the stock T2 gears.
It might not make any difference at all....but they were cheap so meh.

I talked to dDub and he recommend just replacing the bearings so I guess that's the route I'll take. Since I'm using stock turbo I won't receive any performance gains for raising the redline.

The teeth on the stock gears are hardened. Very hard. The whole gear isn't hardened (where the bearing goes is soft). Are the RX8s Fully hardened or also nitrided? More info please.

I believe they are completely hardened.
