ok so i ordered a rx8 front cover gasket and just got it today from mazda . but when i look at the rotaryheads write up and a few others the part i got is different by the first 4 numbers/letters in the part number code . the gasket i got is a n3r1-10-502 model 09-11 and the one i keep seeing is n390-10-502 model 04-08 . the difference im seeing is where the front cover oring is on n390 gasket ,it has the gasket reaching over to that oring surface and over laps the teflon/rubber oring . well my n3r1 gasket does not have this part of the gasket . all bolt holes line up like the other one does and and covers whats it suppose to except for the oring landing area . am i still cool to use it and just make sure my teflon/rubber ring is there . im ready to install the motor tonight . so any quick reply would be helpful . i know everyone is using the 04-08 .but my damn *** mananger ordered the 09 up . my omp feed is blocked of in the iron so im not to worried bout the larger hole there .

the N390-10-502 is from the JC cosmo, and late FD engines, its just like the paper gasket, except in metal.
the N3R1-10-502 is from the 09-11 Rx8, and those have a completely redesigned oiling system, so since there is no pump there, no o ring is needed.
the gasket you wanted is the N3H1-10-502A from a 2004-2008 Rx8.

Thanks brotha for the info . I guess I'll be a test dummy since I bolted and torqued everything down and installed pan after thinking about it for a lil bit . I really was nervous about it at first ,But seeing how guys run no gasket and rtv I feel it should be fine . Besides that ,just like the rx8 gasket that is the right one , everything else bolt wise and all lines up . I'll for sure update if this gasket doesn't work for any reason .

Well my stomach is turning just think bout having a oil issue , so told my manager this morning that it was the wrong gasket he ordered . Gave him the part number this time and ordered it . I hope they have it in stock this time . Suck cause now I gotta pull the front cover . Done torqued it to spec and everything last night . I do still feel it would've sealed up fine . But I want that gasket around the orings

Well I got the gasket coming . When my manager ordered it a lil bit ago . He came back in the shop and said that the only part # that Mazda could find is n3h1-10-502b which does look like the right one . So I guess I'll tear the front back down tonight 😡

Well just got off work and started to tear the front back down . I took a pic of the oring landing area just to see what you guys think .metal gasket crush down which you see inline with the white Teflon ring . The Teflon ring did crush down . But like I said I have the right rx8 gasket coming in the morning . Damn it I want to install this motor so can finish my exhaust work with the wastegate . But it so much easier doing it out of the car of course .
