Stock 6-port NA intake port versus 13BT porting template.
Even with the larger 13BT port, the stock NA 6-port is still larger...

boo hooo its so expensive, cry me a river. if its too expensive for you then just go buy your junkyard turbo kit, and stop whining about it here. 267hp at the flywheel isnt bad.

The expensive part isn't the main issue! Christ on wheels does anyone read anymore? Some people were saying the price sucked for the gain, but the main issue at hand is that he is NOT getting what he should. Do you agree with that? If this is what he should be getting then how can you justify 10psi only putting out an additional ~30-40rwhp? I wanted this kit when I first heard about it, but until I see someone putting down better numbers I don't see it justifying the price, unfortunately.

And what exactly was done to this 267hp at the flywheel? List of the mods please? 267hp means nothing until we know what else was really done to it. What size was the blower too? What size pulley? Etc...

I know you don't want to read threads like this being the manufacturers of these kits, but constructive criticism is good for everyone.

Trust me, I won't. I am not even sure I could have worked this out when it was frsh in my mind in college. Anyway, I do agree that physics rules the day (I never questioned that) My only question was is the amount of heat generated by compressing the air in the SC enough to really need an intercooler. I didn't need to do any math, I just had too since you implied I might not know the Ideal Gas law.

I think what really matters in question is what do guys liek you and evil Aviator, and such think. As you have been turboing and SCing cars for awhile. No matter what numbers we work out real world data is very usefull.

Anyway, this certainly was fun.

All this talk about cost and power. Now, I have not got to a dyno yet, mainly since seat of the pants is what I judge by when a car is for my enjoyment....which my vert is. My vert is significantly faster than stock with a TII swap in it. Slower than a regular TII but the drop top more than makes up for that for me. It runs very stable, always starts quickly...with remote start it has to, and yes I am still using the stock NA ecu with no problems at all. My total cost was $900 with shipping, so yes, Turbo is a lot cheaper but I really wanted to go with a SC, but decided against it due to cost and hassle. But if SoCal is happy with how his car feels then let him be happy, there is no need to whine about a price for a SC that you don't plan to buy. I could post the same thing on a Porsche website about the price of those cars but why? As far as Camden they know what they are doing and the numbers from the other SC kits for carbed cars prove it. But trying to compare a SC kit to a turbo swap is oranges and apples. Some people like to do things a certain way just because that is what they want. If ALL I cared about was bang for the buck, I could just go buy a used Mustang that some guy put a Vortech kit on. I hate Mustangs though, the wankel is unique, so is a SC, so if some decide to go that route ******* them for it is like piston heads ******* our choice to drive rotary cars when Honda Civic HP parts are available at Wal-Mart probably. I say rock on, a SC/rotary vert is a cool thing, at any cost.

Rant over,

John

Let's just say that at 10PSI you're out of the optimum efficiency range and will actually heat up the air going into the engine, thereby making less power than you'd expect at 10psi. Really, I think I'm sorta pushing it at 8.

by the way. if that guy used his gas law correctly with absolute temperature and a mild decrease in volume, the temp wouldnt go up to ~140. it would probably go near 300.

edit: ok so someone else fixed it a page back...i waited to long to post in here hehe.

In a short answer no. He can't be running that hot on a dyno for just a couple of pulls. On the street in the summer the under the hood temp are much higher. It just comes down to this product not helping a FC enuff to warrant the cost. Its kinda like a paper weight. Its just for decoration.

I just cleaned the flames from this thread. This is a great thread, and it would be a shame to have to close it.

For the most part, I am staying out of this discussion. I've already made my opinion on the cost of the kit clear, and I really have nothing to add to the rest of it.

Cooling problems are generally easy to solve. Make sure that the fan clutch is in good shape, make sure your rad is in good shape, the undertray must be installed, etc. If the cooling system is working properly and has not been hacked, it's very effective.

my comment was not a flame it was the truth. If this product does not help perfomance per cost it should be known to the public. For a 5k investment you are yeilding 180-200rwhp. Thats unacceptable in my book.

Show me a 100% stock N/a that dyno'd at 145whp. I'd like to see that one and probably buy it too. 180-200whp is more like 65-100hp added

BTW the arguement of "peak" hp and overal hp comes to mind. Peak numbers are for people with confidence problems Overall numbers are for people that want something with a good power band.

so if i could get you more power per dollar with a v8 conversion, would you switch from rotary to v8? see, with money, there's always an arguement. thing is, the arguements are biased. you like the rotary, so you don't want a v8, even if you could go faster for less (which i dont know, i'm being hypothetical). i mean, who here believes the rx7 is the cheapest way to go fast? i really dont know, but its what we chose, just as what we choose to do to them may be right to some and wrong to others. there's so many stupid loopholes when arguing money numbers.

you mean my car doesn't make the same horsepower across the rpm range?! *gasp!!* let me guess, torque changes, too!!?

I looked through all 12 pages and learned Nothing....I would like to go back about 8 pages on the topic about the PS,AC,pullies about how they take HP... Not one mention of the Drive fan, they take like 5-10 hp easy. Drive fan ROBS low end power. Thats why people use Efans...also How can a stock na run 130hp and a supercharging a car make only make 171? are you guys changing injectors? or just slapping it on.. I hear turbo guys slammin SC's. and sc's guys slammin Turbo's. Well with any you need to run the correct stuff with it or its not going to run great..
