If you really like the car bro get it....Why not take the time to learn how to work on the car?
But if you just want some daily driver that will almost never have problems...go Civic...
But as long as you take care of your Rx7, it'll take care of you. Remember that.

First of all... how old are you? first car? got your license yet? mommy is paying for it? we're goign to need more info so we can help you out. So youre not mechanically and you dont know what happens when the rx7 breaks down, then i wouldnt recommend getting one since rx7s require maintaince. i would start off with something reliable, cheap, and safe like a civic or corolla... or even a sentra. fyi i started off with a MPV...

it is always nice to know what your car is doing or know that you can have some what of an idea. get a civic, sentra, focus, whatever. take some auto classes at school or just start reading. if you have no interest in that then just pay someone to fix your car when it brakes, and maintain it.

having cars are expensive.

i just wanted to use that icon cus its chris farley. why not.

Now that I have an Rx7, I'm learning as much as I can. I've always wanted one.
I started with a Nissan Pathfinder....Than went on to two honda's....
Now I have my Rx7...
It's a dream to drive, but considering how young you are, if you do get it, slow down.
Tickets aren't fun but are easy to get.....especially in a car like that.

I agree also with Street Knight. if you want a car worth having get a Fc (rx7 2nd gen). My 88 se was my first car, man the last 6 month of that car werewell spent on me learning, racing, and understanding how things work. now i have a 88 Gxl and saving my money for a bridgeport, S5 Manifolds, S5rotors, T2 trannyswap, and a few more upgrades that will make my N/A one of them crazy *** cars worth reamembering in your past. lol

but if your not willing to work for what you want, you can get a civic and be another ricer....

I know this, I'm just saying that it's very easy in a car that tops out at 133mph stock. But the pimp mobile would be a blast wouldn't it?

16 your insurance is going to be high. Autoshop class wont teach you very much about these cars. for 5k you can get a really nice N/A FC for about 2k-2.5k and id recommend saving the other 3k for repairs and upkeep and stuff. If you get one please be careful and dont go out and race and stuff. RWD is a diffrent world for unexsperinced drivers. Any specific questions you have about the cars?

Hell for 5k he can get a decent Turbo. No money left for repairs but hey you'll still have it.
Insurance will be a killer for it, but at your age it'll be high for all cars......just more for turbo charged cars

16???

I would buy something with 4 wheels for 1-2k or less.
Once you get passed the first year with no crashes you can think about a rotary.

My first car was an old '86 626... Owned for 4 months and i slid that thing off a gravel road down a hill and onto its roof.

Second car was a '87 subaru GL wagon... Drove it for over a year with no problems then it got rear ended at semi-high speed in the parking lot at school. High school parking lots are killer.

Then i got my GXL my senior year and i still drive it today and dont plan on selling it. By that point i knew all about taking care of cars and driving safe.

Your gonna want something thats 4door and gets great gas mileage cause you will spend all your money on bitches and drugs anyway. Get an rx7 when you can afford to buy it for yourself.

****...i started off with a 4 door integra, went to a supra, then back to a teggy...then got my 88 NA FC...then my TII...

I've learned a lot about rotaries in the past 2 years since I've owned the TII....I love it and hate it at the same time...

and, they cost a lot of $ to maintain sometimes...

there's my useless post for the night.....

It's easy to get a ticket in any vehicle no matter what the top speed is (unless it's a Geo).

lets see I started off with a plymouth tourismo, then to a cutlass calais, nissan pulsar, then an Xr4Ti, then an Olds cutlass broughm, then s-10, ford escort, ford escort wagon, Chrysler Conquest, chrysler lebaron turbo, voyager turbo, plymouth reliant, honda civic si hatch, mitsubishi diamante, ford mustang, mitsubishi mighty max, and now the fc n/a...

I know I missed some cars but to be honest I would get a n/a car... I think all kids should learn to drive RWD and 5spds nothing wrong with that at all.... but turbos on any car can be a headache

For 5 grand, you should get a SUPER MINT nonturbo--like 100k or less on the clock with good compression on the motor. my 7 was my first car but it already had a rebuilt motor in it and hasn't had too many maintainance items: battery, alternator, thermostat, shocks. Just usual old car ****. The motor has never given me any problems.
