RX7 Performance handbook??
Ok so I just finished reading the RX7 Performance Handbook by Mike Ancas. On Page 125, Chapter 12, Transmissions... it says
"One of the best rear ends to look for if you have a non-turbo second-generation car is the 4.30 ration 1989-1991 axle assembly from the GTU or GXL. This axle contains a viscous LSD and is a direct bolt-in swap with all non-turbo cars. The 4.10 rear end out of the turbo, however, requires that you drill out and machine the pinion flange for all non-turbo conversions in order to use the Turbo halfshafts."
Comments anyone? Is this yet another inconsistency about LSD's or are Icemarks factory brochures inaccurate?

I think if you're just getting into RX-7s, it would be a great book. I probably knew too much before I started reading it. A lot of the knowledge can be picked up by simply reading the forums, talking with experienced rotary guys and working on the car yourself. Don't get me wrong, there were a few good things in there. I still think it was worth buying it.

I talk to Mike all the time he lives right near me. You couldnt ask for a nicer guy to talk to. I also go hang out at his shop alot Speednation. I liked the book also not just because I know him but because it has tons of useful information. Nobodys perfect. I had a Bible once and on one of the pages they miss spelled Jesus.

It's worth it just for the photo of Peter Farrel and Gordon Monsen.
It's a good starting point. I highly recommend all of the following books as well:
Maximum Boost :Corky Bell
Prepare To Win: Carroll Smith
Tune To Win: "
Drive To Win: "
Engineer To Win: "
Screw To Win (AKA Carroll Smith's Nuts, Bolts Fasteners and Plumbing Handbook)
Read and understand them all before you start tinkering with your car, expecially if you're thinking of taking it on track. Be aware that some specifics in the Carroll Smith books are out of date.
