NY Rx7 Electric Oil Pump Questions

hey, im in the works of adapting a electric oil pump in my rx7 turbo. I want the pump to be a guarantee of oil feed to the motor. I will be installing a hobbs low pressure switch for safety. The pump is a full power on all the time pump meaning anywhere between 50-100 PSI on idle. I just wanted to know whats the normal oil pressure reading at idle, what will high oil pressure do to my oil seals, turbo, oil metering pump? Im also installing a 7 Quart oil pan to go with the pump. I was thinking of custom making a variable speed feature to go with the pump so it can work like a mechanical pump and run of the rpms... The higher Voltage output that the TPS gives out will determine the speed of the pump. Anything would help out guys, also be kind enough to check out my new site please. Thanks in advanced =)

Reinventing the oil pump is not the answer to the oil starvation problem on your last rebuild. If you can't get the mechanical oil pumping system to work correctly, (http://slowmotionauto.com/Custom.html ) how can you imagine that you can create an electric powered replacement system that will be more reliable?

I think you are wasting your time and asking/guaranteeing another rebuild.

Good luck.

Sounds like you are trying to set up a dry sump system?

There aren't any problems with the stock mechanical pump, they just don't fail. Going to an external electric pump (or even an external belt driven dry sump pump) just adds several more points of failure.

Checking the specs of that pump, it can only output 50 PSI at 3 GPM. It does not look like it will develop enough pressure at the flow rates you want.

3/8" (-6) fittings are too small and suggest the pump won't move the volume you need considering that the FC oil lines are basically -10.

You're going to want 20-30 PSI of oil at idle, and then 10 PSI per 1000 RPM after that.

hmm... Aaron Cake has a really good point... well it was just a thought. I just wanted to create a fail proof oil system. Has anyone ever improved their oil system and how did they do it? Anything will be helpful at this point. I want to build a bullet proof oil system. Thanks for the input.
