rx7 doesnt want to idle and didnt want to start

i was driving my 88' turbo ii and it was not wanting to idle, it stalled in traffic and it didnt want to start, i had someone help me push it into a gas station where i popped it into gear while it was moving and it started right up and it didnt want to idle for like 30 seconds, same thing happened yesterday and had to bump start it, usually my idle is around 1200 but now its around 600 to 700, just got the car not too long ago and it has alittle over 69k miles on it, what is the problem with it and how do i fix it?

edit: just got home and i turned it off and it idles at 6 to 800 but it starts right up, i just want to know why it doesnt want to idle and why it wouldnt start unless im moving and bump it into gear

The Green/Red wire of the TPS needs to read 1 volt w/key to on after the car has been driven for at least 20 minutes. This 'might' be the reason for a bouncing idle. The idle should be about 750 to 800 rpm. Your idle is set too high and might preclude you from setting the TPS accurately. Now when a cold engine is started the engine takes a while to idle down properly and if yours idles near 750 after warm but close to 1200 when cold then that is within the norm.

Low compression could cause an engine to be hard to start. Engine flooding could also cause starting problems.

idle is just bouncing and i drove it to a store and it didnt want to keep a idle when i was leaving, it just wanted to stall out

edit , i think it may be a flood problem. the previous owner said somthing about the car having a bad idle somethimes because of fuel

i tend to agree. although it wouldn't hurt to check your vacuum hoses if your TPS checks out fine.

There are tons of TPS responses to all of these idling issues people are having, but idk if ive ever seen one followed through with... If I were you I'd sit down for a while and search the forum for the fix using google on top of this suggestion ^^^. The search function at the top of the forum just doesnt have a comparable algorithm.

theres alot of suggestions made and never followed through, but when it comes to erratic idle, 90% of the time its a vacuum leak, or a TPS not adjusted correctly

ditto. Vacuum leaks and TPS set. Then compression check, but dont think it would idle like that with low compression, but not sure without some number. So probably the flooding issue, does this car have a fuel cut toggle switch installed? bad/leaky injectors? but yea do some google searching for your exact problem good luck
