Guys, just remember-If you order something and pay via credit card you can contact the card company and deny payment. They will get involved and resolve the situation....But you cannot multilate the parts. I've done this twice. a used driveshft that was no good, and a new HKS exhaust (cat back) that was not to my liking-It was junk. Money back on both.
Purchased a Bonez DP and HiFlow converter for '89 TII, as stated above, fit like a glove. Rocky was very helpful.

Ok, heres a tip for you guys. If you buy something that is supposed to be bolt on, and it doesnt even come close to fitting, return it!! Dont try to force it on, or have it welded. If you butcher the system trying to get it to work, they are not going to take it back.

I just installed their superflo pipe on my 88 GXL this morning and it fit perfect. I also installed their brake kit last week and had their clutch and flywheel installed. All my parts fit perfect. You must have got the wrong part.

BTW: it sounds fine with my Borla cat back

Sorry to hear of your woes. I have purchased a few k in items from them and have had only one problem that concerned a brake line. I called them up and told them the problem and they had me squared away in a flash. They actually did send the right part but i was not installing it the right way DOH!, Anyway, it fit like advertised as has everything else I've ordered from them.

If you hacked it up they aren't gonna take it back. If your lucky maybe they will sell you the right kit at cost. If you had called them soon as you found out it wasn't fitting like it should they woulda got you fixed up.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I just wanted to say that I bought the Bonez Superflo a while back and fitment was great. It has been over a year and it is still in great shape under there. I would hate to see RX7.com get a bad rap for one unfortunate experience. Places like RX7.com won't be around forever and I would like to see them making parts for the 2nd gen for as long as possible.

For RX-7 Racing Beat is the way to go on exhaust and only buy Header and Muffler. The rest should be custom made. It is cheaper, easier and works the best. A custom exhaust is the best way to go. Don't buy fancy pretty looking ****. When you go to the dyno you will realize that a custom made would have done better.

You might as well sell the thing either here or ebay and get something out of it.
Sorry to hear your situation, but the least you could have done was post your frustrated attempt here in the forum if they were close by the time you found out. And always give others the benefit of the doubt. Wouldn't you suspect that a lot of us be bit&*# by now if they were that bad. So at that point, you should have stop right there and either post here or ask them for help. Just don't let this experience discourage you as it will take care of you in your future endeavors.

I agree with the make you own exaust idea, to a point. A good custom exuast will out flow a racing beat anyday. However, a hacked together homade "custom" exaust will be out flowed by the racing beat. Not to mention, some people want the benifeits of a bolt on system, thats quiet. Or they don't have the time nor patience to do it them selfes.

By the way, i'm a custom exaust guy too. CJ

I bought the Bonez Super-Flo cat and catback from them a couple of years ago, had similar problems as you did, and ended up sending it back. I was furious. Unfortunately, I was only able to get a refund for what they would have sold it to somebody else as used because I actually did get it installed and drove about 5 miles with it installed.

I have a convertible with a 5-speed manual and the downpipe coming from the manifold would not clear the frame brace under the transmission (only on convertibles). I was about 1/2" too low to fit up above the brace. I did not want to bend the pipe, so I had to take that brace off and beat a huge dent in it with a sledge hammer to get the pipe to clear...only leaving about 1/8" clearance between the pipe and the brace.

Once the Y-pipe and the mufflers were installed, the flange at the rear of the converter and the flange at the front of the Y-pipe were not even close to matching up. I had to **** around with it forever to finally get the bolts started.

I started the car after the hours of work getting this mess installed and almost cried like a sissy. It was so freaking shitty sounding I couldn't believe it. Your example of a "junked up 4x4" is accurate. It was so loud and the droning reverberated inside the car so bad it was almost unbearable. I drove for about 5 miles watching people stare at me like they were thinking "listen to that piece of **** car", pulled back into the garage and removed every bit of it. I sent it back to them and put the stock stuff back on.

Everybody else is right though......you better not expect any kind of refund for some hacked up parts. You should have just stopped installing. I doubt if they will take them back at all.....for any refund.

The guys at PR were understanding of my concern with the sound and were willing to buy it back from me for less than what I bought it for and were pretty decent to work with. I didn't expect a full refund. If I didn't even install it I would have expected a full refund, but I did install it and run the car......so it is a used part.

Buying exhaust systems is a risky ordeal if you don't know somebody else who already had it and could show you how it fits and how it sounds. I will never do that blindly again.

I don't think I would be afraid to buy anything else from them. That exhaust I bought from them looked to be made very well and was sturdy. They are a good source for other hard-to-find parts.

In short, it took bending, cutting, welding, and about 3+ hours total of time, along with extra $$$ to get their system to fit on my car ('86 RX7 N/A, 71000 Miles, Auto).

Sounds like you screwed yourself

I had the Superflo at one point, it fit perfectly and sounded pretty cool, throaty but not too loud, and their service was always good.

Of course, after 14 months, it melted down so bad it blew a fist-sized hole right through the cat and spewed its guts into my mufflers - we actually dumped handfuls of cat core out of the mufflers.

A for fitment, A for service, D- for durability.

It was a barely modifed 86 NA, BTW.

Would I buy from RX7.com? Sure. Would I buy Bonez? Nah.

Ari and Chris at RP are very knowledgable guys, and the company itself has always been nice to work with. They have a TON of business (there is usually at least a 2-week waiting list to have work done on your car), and are definitely not interested in screwing with anyone, as their reputation is more important than selling parts at this point. Last time I was there, Ari was on the phone refusing to sell a part to a pleading guy because he knew it wouldn't work for him.
