would a RX-8 shift **** fit my '88 FC?

damn...what if I get a short shift kit for it....now will it fit? or no?

 

most short shifter comes with an S5 thread or miata thread(same as S5), which it would fit. I have Rx8 **** + short shifter.

 

a-spec rx8's are 6 speeds, j-spec rx8's are 5 speeds. If you want the correct ****, you'll need one from a j-spec rx8

 

my writeup has the short shifter info, the RX8 **** fits fine with the SS.

 

To my understanding the Jspecs were 6-speeds and the European models were 5-speeds...

Yes, I believe that they all light up. One of the many fancy gimics Mazda used on the RX-8.

All the 5-speed ***** light up, but the 6-speed ***** don't... Also I still believe the Jspec's were 6-speed... Go to www.rx7.com they sell the 5-speed **** in the FD section, and it's listed as Euro spec...

 

if they do then you would need the special lighted collar that goes over the shifter shaft.

The shift pattern and gear numbers light up IIRC.

 

How do they light up though? I had an autozone light up shift **** when I was still in my ricer phase... It had to plug into the cigarette lighter and had this long unattractive wire that came out the bottom of it.. Reeeeally gay.

How would this work?

 

It wires into the dash lighting from what I remember...

yes the wires does go into the dash along wit the alarm light "secure" light. it runs underneath the ash tray, as i recall.

how bright is that? the one on my dads car blinds you in 2nd gear

 

They're very bright, and it's a very red light, redder than the pics above show...

 

If you buy the one from Rotary Performance (like I did) it does not light up. And thank god.

 

mine is not all that bright, but is bright enough to able to see it. Also my **** dont blind me in 2nd gear.

 

does anyone know of places that sell the lighted **** since the RP one isnt?
