rx-8 rotors in a s-5 13b

ok hears the question. What's involved in putting a set of rx-8 rotors into a s-5 non turbo 4-port motor?

what all do you need etc, what has to be changed etc..

No point.

Both Mazdatrix and RB did it, and found no gains over just using S5 non turbo rotors.

Since it seems your search button is broken here is the link:

Odd. i was under the impression that the 10-1 compession, and *slightly* lighter wieght counted for something. although horses are very similar what about the torq curve? i was planning on 3 rx-8 rotors in a semi-PP-20B project in the next year or two. do you have the links to the testing they did?

good too know anyhow Mark.

I know jesus padilla runs rx-8 rotors on his all motor car, so they cant be pointless. There must be some gain out of them.

and to iamtheruthless, it's plenty in my reach but i have never even seen an rx8 rotor in person. I'm too broke to be experiementing. I'm not sure if they'll just slip on a regular 13b eshaft and stationary gears or not.

Does anyone know how to install them? Brand new there 392 bucks. About 200 dollars cheaper than any other rotors brand new.

Well, the RX8 stationary gears work with all 13b rotors, as many people upgrade to the multi-window gears found in RX8's, so, I would suppose they DO slip on.l

I am not searching for this so I will pull it out of memory.

Use the FE rotating assembly as it is also balanced to 11krpm. You can use the stats and you have to use 86-89 seals on the rotors, the 03+ corners will munch the iron apart and the apex seals are over 2rand. I could be wrong but I don’t believe you have to do anything to the rotor. Yes the FE has 3 window bearings so enjoy the upgrade.

As far as the housings comment all 89 to 99 housings are identical outside of the 89-91NA housings have a diffuser in the exhaust. The rear Iron had many changes but not worth mentioning and they will all fit, i think automatics had something different on it though.

as far as all correct-ness the spark plug holes differ from 93-96. but that has nothing to do what we are talking about for the moment.
nice to know about the stat gears thought

not if you go by the VIN... If you go by the VIN, the RX-8 is a FE

and for everyone unable to search here is the link to the thread on using RX-8/Reni rotors VS S5 non turbo rotors:

its hard to say since most FB owners are older and seem to keep the cars stock. FC owners tend to be highschool-collage, poor and therefore cheap.
maybe i just havent meet enough FB owners.

thats far enough off topic for me im done here.

Here's my views on the "new" rx7

Heres what I saw on my google search:

2007 Mazda RX-7 : On the drawing board is a shortened, lighter coupe boasting 280-330 hp. However, it has not been greenlighted for production. "We can't just keep launching sports cars," says product development chief Joe Bakaj.

Why not? you only make one. RX-7 or RX-8, Yes Miata's in there somewhere, but i don't consider that a sports car, eventhough it kind of is..... I dunno I'm weird.

also I've seen a concept that looks like a 2 door RX8 nothing else changed stylinging wise. Another version is one that looks like a cross between a Audi TT and a 350Z.

who knows, its still in concept

^ have you drove a Miata?

There has been drawings floating around for like 3yrs now about a rx-7. I think it all boils down to what icemark said.
