WTF...Less than 30mpg... Holly **** this is soposed to be bad... So its like 25-28 mpg right? Dood whats thier to complain about. It gets the same mileage as my friends 97 miata. Quit your yappin about the mileage already. 240hp 28 mpg takes an act of god. Most in that range make 15-24mpg so this isnt even an issue.

And the RE is smaller in size and weight not displacement...thats what he meant.

Just 13B buddy. There are 4-port Turbo and 6-port non-turbo engines found in the S5 RX-7s. The 12A was discontinued in '85 (the 12A is a smaller displacement engine). The 20B is a three-rotor engine found in the Cosmo sedan that was only available in Australia and Japan.

So, the Mazda engineers increased the mileage from roughly 20mpg to almost 30? What makes you think they can't do it again in 5 years before the new hypothetical CAFE standards go into effect?

Oh, and the standards most likey won't go into effect for a long time still because todays popular SUVs are not even close to being efficent enough, and the "Big 3" american automakers all have legislators on their payroll.

I admit I haven't been able to find as much information on the RX-8 as I would like. Do you know of a good online source?

isn't the RX-8 more fuel efficient because of the side exhaust?

What I'm planning on doing is to drive my 7 until I save up some money(if thats possible due to mods and such) and then buying a new car and keeping the 7 for fun on the weekends and stuff like that.
