rx-7 operation....a success story and then some not?

during this last week it was my spring break (sucks cuz its toooo early) and i have had my other dash sitting and taking up space for the longest time. anyway, i finally got to swapping out the old dash in my 86 gxl with the new one (87 turbo dark grey). it was not all cracked and broken like my old one. swapped out everything not broken and made sure all the screws were there (noticed alot of screw in many places were not present). i've never messed with cars that much until i got my rx-7 so i think for a diy, it was a very rewarding and great learning experience. took me a while (2 days) but man it felt great knowing i did so much and with successful results. since i had my dash off, i decided to fix my temperature actuator..i think that's what its called...the motor that regulates the hot and cold air. also replace my logicon because the lights were dead and the buttons stuck very bad...almost everything works great now..except my cruise control is dead. i'll probably fix it one of these days but i don't use it enough anyways.

ahhh this post is long but things kinda bothering me.

my master clutch cylinder was leaking so i replaced it with a new one from nopi and also replaced the slave clutch and added in a ss clutch hose. there is a loud whine (it was present before but much more noticeable now) when im in fifth gear and accelerating. when in any other gears and neutral, its ok. throw-out bearing replacement in near future? i did a search already but it didn't really help me much. all pointed to throw-out bearing being the probably cause. how much would one cost and what other things could/should i replace if i have the tranny out. i will do the work myself. done it before on my brother's rex.

ok and another thing, recently i've been hearing some sounds coming from my front end when i turn corners. they are coming from my tire/wheel well area so im assuming something is wrong with my bushing? i need/want to get all safety issue relating stuff fixed so i can drive a safe rex and not get stuck on the side of the road...

a dead rex is a sad rex.

So recapping:

- 5th gear whine
- front wheel noise while turning.

The turning noise could be wheel bearings (replaceable) or strut tower bearings (non-replacable, you have to buy the 1 assembly piece).

You might try switching to synthetic tranny fluid to help out with the gear whine.
