RX-7 FC Water Temp Guage Jumping!

MD RX-7 FC Water Temp Guage Jumping!

Heres the deal my stock Temp Guage jumps up and down or spikes. and sometimes its fine, reads correctley.Just wondering has anyone else had this sort of problem i couldnt find anything on the web hopefully someone has heard of this and could Help!

I'd look first at the wire to the sending unit and the connector.

Ok checked the wire going to the sending unit, Its hooked up and the wire going to it looks good as well, This has got me stumped!

Well, if the wire going between the gauge and the sender is OK, then you only have the two ends to worry about.
So, it's either the gauge or the sending unit.

did you check the length of wire or just what is exposed? random spikes sound like it's grounding out. I would blame the lead before looking at the gauge.

Grab a multimeter and check for continuity through each wire

I have had this problem when the outside temperature is very cold, just above freezing. My temp gauge will spike, but on my Rtek my temps read totally normal, just slowly warming up, then once my car reaches operating temp the gauge settles back down to normal. I think mine is a faulty gauge. My fuel gauge will also do it sometimes when it's very cold.
