So I am buying a 87 rx7 TII and it needs a new engine so i was looing around and i found a new engine from JDM.

Well this one is a TWIN TURBO so how hard would it be to make the twin turbo set up work. And does it just plug into my stock computer.

man you might have just opened up a can of worms. but to answer your question, no it wont just bolt in and work with your stock computer. just get the motor rebuilt thats already in your car. the biggest misconception is that since its "twin turbo" it must make more power. in some cases yes, but usually its just a nightmare. this motor does have more power than your stock Tii motor right now, but you could easily get yours up to par with a few mods and the stock turbo. but whatever floats ur boat.

no, it isn't anywhere near plug and play! better rebuild your 13bt!

yeah that's a 13b-rew from an fd...the motor mounts are different ,it can be made to work in your fc but it requires a lot of fabrication/modification and in the end you will want to go to a single turbo setup anyway ...just ask the fd guys...for the same money you can rebuild your tII and do a port job and make way more power!

is there any place were i can just buy a new turbo motor that wouldbe a direct bolt in. I mean I really don't know how to rebuild a rotory and i hear it is alot harder then it really looks like in the book.

For 25 bucks you can get an excellent rebuild DVD at www.rotaryaviation.com or www.atkinsrotary.com. It is relatively simple, but you have to be a competant mechanic to do it.

The short answear is very hard and it will not plug into the stock computer at all. Do a search on 13B-REW in an FC or something similar or follow the above links to find out just what all is involved. You can get 87-88 Jspec TII motors that would be almost a direct swap but from what I understand it is many times luck of the draw on whether you get a good one that won't need rebuilding.

it is alot harder and trust me tose seals on the rotor can cut you. Take it from somebody who knows, I have the atkins video(great for saying you have a rotary rebuild video), I have the Bruce turentine rotaryaviation one(shows how to dissamble and reassmble 13b 6 port but only flaw is he doesn't show you how to grind side seals to size) and finally the DIY-RE 4 disc video which is by far a much more updated and clearer video(from budget, but doesn't show how to take motor apart) So all in all I'd recommend the rotary aviation vid cuz of cheapness $25 the DIY RE is $100 for set and no offense but atkins just shows how to put together engine and makes a novice think nothing needs to get miked up or measured and they use all new parts so I wouldn't suggest that vid(no offense to atkins their great).

It isn't too bad to do a rebuild if you are mechanically inclined, pretty adept at auto work and have or are willing to purchase the necesary tools. Also along with the video I would pick up at the minimun a Haynes manual but would recomend the Mazda Factory manual as well.

yes a hanes manual is a priceless guide tust me fellas. Yeah and take it from me don't let all the "special Parts" the manual says you need deter you, enginuity is all u need trust me . If you have questions this is the place to ask and I will do my best to help out.
Just order the 54mm socket and get a 3/4 ratchet and breaker bar.

If you get the socket and breaker bar as mentioned above you'll just need the flywheel stopper.You'll need the pilot bearing removal tool though I have heard you can rent something from Auto Zone that will work. I can't remember how I got mine out , but I didn't have the tool at that time. I used a milk crate with a hole in the middle to clear the E-shaft for an engine stand. You'll need some dial calipers, a torque wrench(which is needed for any engine build) and a set of feeler gauges. Other than that it's just the wrenches and sockets you'd use on any late model vehicle.

you won't need the flywheel stopper check man. Okay on the flywheel you'll notice on the inside of the flywheel it has to metal wing things that stick out towards the engine on the flywheel. Get the drivers side engine mount and wedge it betwen those nodges and the rear housing nodge that pokes out. then use the breaqker bar and apply alot of pressure.
See enginuity man and for a engine lift I used a 50 buck Aauto parts engine stand and got it to fit after removing the front cover.
But you will need the pilot bearing puller don't suffice 4 anything less. Dak is right on everything else though, measure everything and if anything don't spec out trash but many parts "can" be reused but be weary.

instead of a fly wheel stopper use an impact wrench it will come right off no need to stop the flywheel from moving
