Rx-7 Convertible lowering springs?

I have a 1991 rx-7 convertible and i was thinking about buying lowering springs. I was just wondering if the convertible needed special springs or if i could just use any that are made for a 1991 rx-7 such as the tein s-tech lowering springs.

I used a set of aftermarket lowering springs and they worked fine. The back bolts on top of the struts are hard to access (you'll see). I used an air ratchet.

Racing Beat makes a set specifically for the convertable. I had a set on my vert. I've switched to Tien Flex coilovers cause I wanted more adjustability though.

The RB springs are nice for street use.

Several years ago, I purchased a package from Rotary Performance (the one in Texas) that included Tokico shocks and springs. The springs were progressive, so they were nice on the road. The car was lowered by approximately 1 3/4". On the track at Summit Point, I could easily out-corner stock 3rd gens. I really liked the handling with that combination.

The real question is, what are you trying to accomplish?

Are you trying to slam the car for looks?

Are you trying to make a track car?

Are you just tring to make your car handle better on the street?

You have lots of suspension choices. All the Spring setups that fit FC coupe fit the vert. Vert is a little heavier and thus the vert specific spring rates are a little higher, but it is certainly not a critical difference. Some companies also have a slightly higher spring rate for TII, but some do not. And the S5 TII is very close to the same weight as the Vert.

Look at the FAQ and the factory weights of the original cars. They are all over the place.

So decide what you want to accomplish, then buy the setup you want. It will be fine.

And also SEARCH is you friend. This has been covered many, many times.
