RUST (satan)

i have rust on the rear part of the wheel cutout on both rear fenders. one side is worse than the other. its way past just surface rust, its just like all flakey and decrepid all the way through. i hear this is a common place to get rust. anyway it bothers the **** out of me. i assume you have to cut it out and put new metal in, since you cant just buy a new rear fender like you can the front ones. i dont make very good money so actually ever fixing this is a long shot, especially because itll need to be painted too, but how much would this cost to get done?

My advice... make friends with somebody who knows how to weld!!!! The BEST was to do it is to have somebody weld new sheet metal in, bondo it and then paint it. A rough estimate would be 250-500 bucks for the entire job....

That being said... you CAN cut all the rust out, take the paint of and fiberglass over the holes. and then bondo it... this will run you less than 50 bucks... but, unless you go a heated garage.. you aint doin that till summer my man... 'glass resins usually need about 70 degress to properly set. Of course, your still gonna have to find somebody to paint it!!

get a tig welder- much better for the thin metals you're gonna be welding...we use them on airplane parts (really thin metal) all the time...takes a little practice to get a good bead goin without burning thru the metal!
