Runs lean when cold idle, can slowly rev past it, fine after driving
Ok, I've had a weird set of symptoms show up out of nowhere and I have searched around but can't find a definitive answer.
Car details:
- '88 Convertible
- 6 port with Cartech turbo kit (N/A rotors)
- Half bridge, resurfaced irons
- 1150/1600 cc injectors
- Adaptronic PnP T2 ECU
- Walbro 255 w/ AEM FPR
- New fuel filter
Symptoms:
When you first start it up, it idles at 14.5-15.5, when it used to idle at like 13.5. AFR bounces around a lot. If you try to stab the throttle, it will just bog and backfire/sputter. However, if you slowly roll into it, it will rev past this. Once you rev it up to 4-4500 for a little while (AFR is steady in the 13s doing this, or in the 12's if it tries to build any boost), and get some heat in the car, it's driveable. Also, after driving for a while, it DOES have a normal idle around the 12.9-13.6 AFR range (the tune on it is for safety while we break it in a bit as this build only has about 500km on it).
I changed the leading plugs as they were carboned up (put brand new ones in), and it definitely ran better. Is it maybe a bit of a situation of the engine being carboned up from not being revved a whole ton? I just sort of putt around town a bit because I have an overboost issue (Wastegate too small) and don't want to push it a ton.
I should add, this wasn't an issue when it was all put together/initial map on it. It started happening fairly suddenly. I was having another electrical issue (unrelated, a short in the harness for the illum circuit), and this happened at the same time.
Thoughts?
