I bought my RX7 about 3 weeks ago non running 1986 GXL, my fist RX7(hopefully not last) We drained gas, changed plugs, and oil change. Couldn't get the thing to run. We tried everything starting fluid...that didn't seem to work, it acted like it wanted to fire but it didn't. Today we hooked up a shop battery charger to work as a "booster" and all it needed was to be turned faster!!! I am excited!!

I've been there totally excited and rambling that I got her running. That was an awesome feeling. Not sure what is going on with my FC. Been working on it little by little trying to trouble shoot whats going on with it.

She sounds a a lot better now. kinda wants to kick over by no go yet.

 

that sounds really good, the previous owner before tipped the exhaust with long cherry bombs, thought it would sound like crap, ironically it sounded...well, kinda cool, but it doesn't look cool lol, i am going to put a new exhaust on it, another question, when a car has been sitting for a long time, and it is hard to start up at first, will it start up easier if you run it everyday? i don't know much about how these rotorys handle when sitting a long period of time.

 

your timing sounds off or you have a sick vaccum leak.

 

If I were you I'd replace the battery cables and rebuild your starter.
