Running hot still

Well I changed the thermostat the other day and it is still running hot. When it cools down I check the radiator and there is no water in it. I fill it back up and then drive it and 20 minutes later it is running hot again and the low coolant light is on. Could it be leaking somewhere I dont see or is the a water pump issue?

I hope, for your sake, it's an external leak.
I had one on the back side of the water pump housing, in the gap between the pump and the engine.
Later I found a hairline crack hidden by the mold line on the plastic thermostat neck.

it only smokes when the water bubbles in the reserve. I have not seen it leak.

Overheating

Are you sure that you got the air all out of your system, It can be quite a chore if you don`t do it right!! Kinda sounds like this is the problem

If that`s not the problem then it` likely your fan clutch!

Just got the car back from the mechanics shop today and it is the engine. I have no clue what to do now. If I go with a j-spec engine is there anything major that needs to be change or is it just a simple drop?
