Running the headlights without popping up the housing

Is this even possible? I was thinking about it the other day, and I've seen some pics of FCs in which they appear to be doing this.

All you have to do is pull out the fuse labled RETRACTOR in the engine bay, and the headlights will not go up when turned on...

I am also interested in doing this. But i was thinking more of making the FTP switch more like a toggle switch when the headlights are down, so it acts the same way as the high beams when the lights are up.

So as your driving with lights down, u can just flick the FTP switch, and they stay on.

I thought this would be the best/cleanest way to do this, would anyone know how??

I like using the FTP lights for lighting when im comin in the driveway late at night, and around neighbourhoods so my lights dont shine in houses. They give off the perfect amount of light for stuff like that IMO, useless on the road tho.

Thanks guys. I wasn't planning on really driving around with them like that, except maybe for nighttime races (little bit of aerodynamics), and to add a little ambiance to a photoshoot.

No the easiest way is to get one opn my Show headlight switches and plug it in.

Then the headlights only pop up if you use the cleaner switch to pop them up. When you use the headlight switch, it just shines through the FTP openings until you use the cleaner **** (**** right above the headlight switch) to raise the headlights.

Totally useless anywhere at night, not to mention dangerous and illegal. Only a complete moron would drive at night like this, as the headlights' output is severely reduced.

Do it Aaron's way, with an ignition-swtiched relay and a on/off switch. Just a few dollars in parts and no chance of accidentally leaving them on. And make sure you raise them at night.

sure if you want to take a picture...

but if you read NZ's post it says "Only a complete moron would drive at night like this"......is taking a picture driving? no.

either way, chances are if you're taking a picture like that you'll probably want to do it again, perhaps while driving. And is it soooo fuggin easy to wire this up (not to mention in-expensive) that you may as well do it from the get go.

The video in my latest project thread shows the lights running without being popped up using the mod on my site:

Id say use icemarks switch, or aarons. But, do not drive at night like this! no matter how well you think it lights up the road, or how well your fog lights work. If your doing this, it should be for people to see you, in crappy daytime weather, like rain, not to light up the road.

Btw, it is illegal, and you will get pulled over, and ticketed.

My friends been driving inner-city like this for months, even got pulled over for other reasons, but they never even mentioned the lights. Although it MAY be illegal, it isnt tough to see AT ALL in inner-city driving.

But ya, spend a couple bux and put a switch in...
