How do I bleed the clutch?

1. Make sure you have a bleeder kit or drop pan.
2. Buy DOT3 brake fluid.
3. Attach kit to bleeder valve located on the slave cylinder which is ontop of the transmission.
Then, remove the top from the clutch resevoir.
4. Depress clutch, then open the valve on the slave cylinder, allow burst of fluid to flow out, close valve, release clutch, then repeat until you see no air bubbles.
5. Make sure to check fluid level in the resevoir every couple of pumps.
Note: If the fluid is frothy, or has alot of small bubbles in it that wont go away, then your going to need a new clutch master cylinder.

 

Thank you so much. I'm thinking it just needs new fluid right now. I may have air in the system. Right now my symptoms are: Loss of hydraulic pressure until I physically pull the clutch pedal back up. Sometimes I have to pump the clutch a few times to get pressure back. (Even after pulling it back up.)

might also be a bad slave cylinder.......www.nopi.com has them cheap.

 

OK, how do I open the bleeder valve? I can't turn it with my hand, it fits a 7mm but it doesn't ever seem to open...

Help, please.

It opens counter clockswise. It's just old, so put some penetrating fluid on it and be gentle. It will open eventually.
FYI: Make sure you use a closed end wrench to open it to avoid stripping.
