just spray it in all of them till it works, hah. jp

that stuff is crazy, i just bought a blown 86 bridgeported 7, and all it would do is crank over, but u could hear that it had a busted apex seal. anyways my and my friend sprayed some CC into the vacumn hose, and to my suprise it actually started and ran. we drove it around the neighborhoos for a bit. that stuff is crazy.

Interesting. I can tell you from tearing apart my Cosmo that it had some SERIOUS carbon on it. I was running very rich and using premix so I am sure that was part of the problem, running so rich, but I bet it cleans up the rotos pretty well

Carb cleaner is still a little dry though, not to mention highly flammable!!. ATF will do the same thing and I would think a bit safer.

Well I bought some carb and choke cleaner and I read the back and it said "not recommended for fuel injected vehicles." And said to use air intake and throttle body cleaner instead, so I went to the store and got some. I am about to give it a shot I guess.

I gave it a try, but my engine and everything under the hood is hot as hell since I have been driving it, lol. The can said to use it while the engine is up to operating temps though. Plus, the vac line was spitting some right back out. I'm going to do it later when my car is cooled down some.

*edit*

And the stuff I am using is:

CRC fuel injection air-intake cleaner

It says it removes harmful deposits, lubricates and protects moving parts.

I must be using the wrong vacuum line or something, because all it does for me is shut my engine right off. No matter what rpm I hold it at, as soon as it hits, the engine just drops dead.

Any help?

I did it several times last fall and I did it again today.

I used Gunk's stuff. Yellow can.

I used a t-junction of hose that I also use for the water trick, connecting the CC's end of the hose right to the can's nozzle. The motor sucked it right up and while she did bog, she didn't bog nearly as badly as when I do the water trick.

Ronin - you do know that you should be revving the motor to at least 4k when you do this, right? Otherwise it will bog and stall like happened to you. If you were revving the motor and it stalled anyway, then I'd say that you have other problems...

And be warned, everybody - when you do this the fumes that will come out of your exhaust are **HARSH**. I had to stop spraying and walk away from my 7 after a long, 10 second burst because the fumes were starting to hurt my eyes and also starting to make it hard to breathe.

I've been running premix for about the last two weeks, so there's probably not nearly as much crap in my motor to begin with as there might be in one that still uses the OMP...

I haven't been in the FC section much in the last 2 months... I've been way busy with work and my 7 and usually just fart around in the Lounge to decompress after yet another long day...

You want the topmost line of those three. The fat 6mm one. It goes down to your OMP injectors which in turn go to both chambers.

Since I pulled the entire OMP apparatus today, I'll have to find another way to do this treatment from now on.

(Up until today I had only disconnected the OMP connecting rod that went to the TB - all of the vac and oil lines and the pump itself were still in place...)

Well, I actually don't think I was quite at 4000 rpm. I'd better give it another shot.

So what does everyone think about the stuff I bought? It says it contains:

propane, butane, isobutane, xylene, toluene, acetone, diacetone alcohol, and methanol.

The carb cleaner I had originally purchased contains:

acetone, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone, petroleum distillate, and propane.

I sprayed the CC in my intake today because i didn't know what vaccuum line to use in my S5. It backfired so bad when i was doing it that the tunable silencer thing blew about 1 cm out of my drivers side muffler! When i was test driving it, i had the normal backfires but i guesso ne of them comopletely blew it out of the muffler! I hope nobody got hurt from it lol.

The car sounds a lot better now. Ity doesn't make the popping it used to when it idels. That could be muffler related. It feels like it got a little bit more pep. I haven't used the gtech to confirm it and it could be my imagination. Im changing my plugs now so i guess we'kll never know what helped.

i should try to do this... i really wanted to fill my entire engine w/ ATF, pour it straight down the intake and try to wash away all the carbon.

as for the junk that CC removes and flys thru the engine... uhm, yea, hey, that **** is already in there. this dislodges it. it was already flying thru the engine and got stuck to something... we are trying to UNstick it

Power foam is better for cleaning. I'd run it right through the engine- not while it's running though, but fill the intake while it's cranking, let it suck some in, and also pop the plugs and spray some there. SHould clean much better.

Using ATF for carbon removal is a rotary myth. Don't waste your time and money that way.

No sale!

Carbon doesn't initially fly through your engine and then stick to something. Carbon is pretty much just burnt oil. So if you're using the stock OMP some of the oil might actually be burned off, some might get spit out of the exhaust and some will definitely get baked onto surfaces within the motor. Tadah - carbon!

Lol Amur... good one.

but seriously. carbon does get thru your intake... you do know what an EGR does right? you do realize that carbon is a byproduct of exhaust right? what happens when the exhaust (which has carbon in it) gets rerouted back thru your intake manifold???

would you like to retract your previous statement now?
