running at 4000 rpm

hello i got an 1988 rx7 convertable, new engine drove great for 2,500 miles now it runs really bad, it wont acclerate fast till 4000 rpm it slurs when u step in the gas. the pedal is all the way to the wall and still acclerates SLOW till 4000 rpm then it runs like it should, till u shift, then slurs again. it will shut off when it gets warm when u idle. oh and the exhaust is really hot. there is no catalitic convertor. and the intake isnt plugged. there are no vacume leaks. it idles at 700 rpm. it sounds like the exhaust is plugged! but its not, its brand new

Do a websearch for "the rotary webring," I saw a post that involved some circuitry problems and solutions for what you seem to have going; check their 2nd gen faq and you should be able to find the answer pretty easily.
Of course, if you have the stock seals, that may indeed be the source of your problem too.
