RPM signal from ECU s4TII
RPM signal from ECU s4TII
i was wondering if there was an RPM signal coming out of the ECU for my oldschool Super AFC? if so what pin is it if it does exist? i have all the other pinouts already...thanks alot!
i already searched

Yeah there is. Pin 1X on S4's or pin 1G on S5's is the trailing ignition timing signal, which gives you rpm. How did you wire up your S-AFC? Didn't you follow the instructions?
The diagram I posted above had an error (wrong pin for rpm on S5) so I've deleted it. Here's a corrected one. Sorry about that.

Oh? Really?
Let's see now. You've got a IG-T that goes from the ECU to the Ignitor. PIn 1M.
You've a Select signal from the ECU to the Ignitor. Pin 1U.
And last you have a FEEDBACK signal from the ignitor to the ECU. The famous pin 1-X in your diagram.
Now I see the FEEDBACK signal as going From the Ignitor TO the ECU. To me that means that Pin 1X is a INPUT signal to the ECU.
Put a very large SMILEY HERE x.
I wired my SAFC just like you'all. Until I dismantled them the last couple of weeks and installed a RTEK2.0. Put a even larger SMILEY HERE x.

edit: as usual, there is a SMALL chance I might be ..........................w r o n g

Go look at the 88 FSM ECU chart on page 4A-30 or 4B-31. For S4's Pin 1X is the trailing ignition timing signal, i.e. the ECU tells the trailing coil to fire. That is the pin Apexi tells you to use for the rpm signal in the instructions for the S-AFC and Rev-Speed Meter.
Pin 1U is the trailing select signal and pin 1M is only described as being for the trailing coil, but must be the feedback signal.
