Rough Idle and Creeping

I have an 87 GXL Automatic. Recently i have been haivng problems with it dying randomly. (its done it twice) When it dies....it floods itself out and then wont restart for hours. I know the pulling of the fuse trick and all the other stuff. When I start it up the next day it ran fine for about 2 months and then did it again.

Shortly after I started getting a rough idle from it and when i drive it I cant get it above 20 mph. If i give it gas, it dies. I changed the plugs and the wires and it didnt help. The next step is my soleniod resister switch i guess.

I would really like some suggestions to fix this problem. I have had this car 3 years and am quite attached to it and miss driving it. Not to mention the $$ ive put into it.

TPS could be an issue...I had a problem with mine on my FD, and got similar symptoms. Other than that I would say fuel issues. Leaky injectors seem to be common, though they don't really explain the rough idle...only the flooding.

rough idle could be caused by low fuel pressure, from a clogged filter. if the injectors dont see the proper pressure, atomisation wont occur normally, did you see a reduced idle too?

does the car rev freely? rough idle and low speeds can sometimes indicate a blown motor unfortunatly. make an ecu code puller, see if theres anything obviously wrong.
