rotor question

rotor question

are the 13bs rotors off the 85 rx7s able to be swaped into a 88 rx7?

Well, technically they are off of a 13B, you probably want to check the compression and all that fun stuff first. I'm not entirely sure, but i think the compression from the s4's and the s3's and lower were different. I know for sure though that if they are high compression that its best not to mix and match with turbo engines and ****.

.....hope that made some sense, because it didnt make any sense to me

Yes, technically they will fit as they are same dimensions.

However, there are other differences.

As you can see from this chart, http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/rotorwgt.htm , the '84-'85 rotors are much heavier. This will require changing the flywheel and counterweight to match. They also use 3MM apex seals which really don't seal as well as your 2MM seals.

thanks guys it just i got 2 engines but i also wanted to know about the rotor houseings will they have differnt dimensions?

The housings have the same dimensions, but the older 13Bs have the coolant o-ring grooves in the housings, while the newer engines have them in the irons.
