You'll be a little scared, but fortunately the corner seal has a tight fit in the deep cylindrical counterbore of the rotor, so it need to be effectively fully unsupported before it will pop out completely.
After I posted the pics I started wondering how the corner seal actually tracked across the rotor.

I snapped a couple of pics to show the distance between the intake port and the housing. I know the seals do not correctly show the epitrochoidal path traced by the corner seals but Whizbang requested a pic to show how much space there is between the port and the housing wall.

the wear line half way between the port and housing wall is the edge of the corner seal track. it is scary to see how little it rides on towards the closing edge but when assembled it is plenty of support to prevent a corner seal from coming out.

Thank Ben. I agree with your previous post saying the damage had to have been caused by a washer.

You dropped it during disassembly.

It is physically impossible for a corner seal to be "missing" from a properly assembled, stock port rotary engine, except due to a disassembly error.

Even if some massive damage destroys rotor seals, chunks of the corner seal will still be sitting in the hole in the rotor until you remove it.
