removed intake assembly have 2 questions:
1. Is it normal for the outside intake ports of the dynamic chamber to be all black and oily? If I look inside I see the black has chipped off in places and has obviously gone into the engine.
2. How do I "jump" the connecter to turn the fuel pump on so I can inspect my fuel rails?
Thank-you

Apparently the carbon is normal.
To jumper the fuel pump there should be a yellow connector behind the AFM. Jumper it then turn the ignition switch to on.
Oh when checking injectors for leakage make sure to wire them so they don't pop out of the fuel rail (as shown in the FSM). Not that anyone would for get that. Definately not me =)

I'm pretty sure that comes from the purge valve and it slowly drips down the intake and then starts to make that nasty build up on there. A couple of carb cleaner bottles later and your intake is shiny clean.
To jumper you just need a small length of wire that you connect to the connector that has two wholes. This will make the fuel pump run when the key is to on.
