Rising Sun Used Parts????

Has anybody done business with these guys?
http://www.risingsunusedparts.com/
I ordered a S5 turbo manifold from them. They supposedly shipped it 10 days ago!!
I paid them via Paypal, so they got their money.
I ahve also emailed them and they told me they didn't have a tracking number because they sent it through the mail.
I think I'm getting screwed!
It didn't take that long to get my Haltech from AUS!!!
My engine is just sitting there in my garage. I can't do anything else until I get this part!!
I'm gonna have to sick MikeL on them I guess!

Hmm, I wonder if they are related to the Rising Sun Auto that was involved in a bunch of stolen rx7's in the late 80's. Reruns of Unsolved Mysteries rock! If they are in Arizona, then there might be a problem.

I know that isn't relevant, but it was kinda weird that I saw that episode earlier in the week and now someone is asking about a company with a similar name.

What is relevant is that I have heard of someone purchasing from them from a post on the old Team FC3S email list and said it did take them a while to get stuff, but they did get it.

Good Luck

Carl

Contact info says this shop is in Florida...

It is kinda fishy that you got a refund though after they read it in here.

I wanted to take the high road on this, I really did, but I have to respond to Bruce's post.
We offer 10% off to all first time customers. But this wasnt enough for Bruce, so he negotiated the price down even more. As I only recently started my business I decided I would accept his price of $200.00 for a complete S5 Turbo manifold COMPLETE, delivered!
Bruce then paid via a E-Check which took 4 business days to clear and throw a weekend in the middle which caused a 6 day delay. For that price I am not going to 2 Day air the part so we sent it via the USPS. I kept Bruce informed, checked in periodically to see if the part had arrived, Etc. The USPS has a Delivery Confirmation # but that is fairly useless until such time the package is delivered.
It blows me away that people air their dirty laundry in a public forum INSTEAD of communicating to the 2nd party involved, and then neglect to tell both sides of the story to boot! If you have a problem with a place of business, contact the business owner, the manager, Etc. before making an unsubstantiated attack of "getting screwed" in a public forum.
Bruce has his money back and, if he doesnt refuse the part, will have the manifold when it is delivered. I dont care anymore, its not worth it.
Ive already received (2) e mails from Bruce expressing his remorse, and stating that he tried to delete this post, Etc. Just wanted to add our side of the story.
Also we certainly are not affiliated with any Rising Sun in arizona that was boosting RX7s in the 80's. Just another example of how one misguided post attracts others. Just my .02
Take care guys.
Susan

Basically what Susan said is the truth with the exception of the time frame she presented.
It has been almost 2 weeks since they SHIPPED it and I have seen hide nor hare of it.
I am in the process of installing an engine, and ordered this part in hopes that it would be here in a timely manner. I even took a couple of days off work to whip it out. I figured even the USPS wouldn't take this long?
My engine is hanging in my garage and I can go no further until I get this part.
I am sure the reason I haven't seen it yet is because of the mail moving so slow.
I am sure that Rising Sun is a reputable shop and will be a reliable source for you all in the future.
I am also sure that a public forum is just that. A public forum, intended to inform and gather information. That's all I was trying to do by posting this topic.
I am waiting for the package to arrive. That will be the proof!
If and when it does, I will post it here to let you all know that Rising Sun is reputable.
If it doesn't appear, I will also let you know.

I can certainly understand your desire to find out if anyone else had problems dealing with the company. It WOULD be preferable to find that out BEFORE you sent them $200.
I also understand your being anxious about the part not arriving on time... BUT there are several shipping methods that provide tracking of the package and confirmed shipment. If it was important to get the part sooner rather than later, you should have sprung for the shipping that could have afforded you more comfort with an unknown seller.
Using the forum for information about a vendor is a good thing. In the future though, you could word your request for info better to avoid any questions about who's telling the truth.
As you probably realize, good venders can get a bad reputation around here in pretty quickly even if it's just a misunderstanding. There are not THAT many good parts venders for our cars, lets just be VERY careful when we make the decision to question somebody's integrity. It's quite hard to get back.

My two cents

Nice to see a reputable vendor. Someone who did their best to make good on an over-anxious customer complaining. I'm going to put in a part request today.

First of all, just for the record, Rising Sun is run entirely by my wife, Susan. I am far too busy trying to race cars for a living and selling stuff with demonspeed.com to deal with the used parts business. After racing ZX's and RX7's for 7 years we developed quite a stash of parts that were just laying around. After having our Son 8 months ago my wife was looking for something to do where she could bring the kid and still make some money. Her best friends Husband owns a very large Recycling Yard for a GM product and one thing led to another. It was entirely her brainstorm and her "baby" so to speak.
She has 2 part time parts pullers she hired and she does everything else her self. I know she has been slammed since her Grand Opening a few weeks ago so if everyone can be a little patient that would be great. How many Recycling Yards are owned by a Woman?!
Being in business isnt a "bitch" RETed. It beats a 9-5 job, working for someone else hands down. While some customers will try your patience that is just part of doing business. I think the situation in question was handled proactively with the attitude "the customers always right" (even when he is wrong) attitude and everyone involved can move on. Just my 2 cents.

There IS a reason I am not taking payments until I have the mold finished and I have time to make them.

You don't seem to understand...
After having to go through it with K2RD (one of the reasons I've left), and trying to start my own shop as of this moment, it's not even close to easy trying to keep customers "happy".

It's one of the reasons I haven't announced a lot of new parts or promises of getting them done (when they haven't) cause I've been through that and potential customers get really antsy.&nbsp Anyone who has going through the TID debacle knows what I'm talking about...

I've been "in the business" for the past 10+ years.&nbsp Every shop I've come across ends up being a catalog center - nothing in stock (except for petty/cheap accessories) and anything "serious" you want needs to be order, and you pay shipping.&nbsp I find this method of sales to be just plain stupid; I would rather have the stuff in stock or warehoused close-by so the customer can get it within 24 hours.&nbsp It takes a lot of MONEY to pull this off, something not-having-a-job is putting a serious crimp to.

I dunno about you, but sometimes having a 9-5 job and having everything dictated to you as mindless work has it's perks.&nbsp I used to have a KILLER job that paid $20/hour with me doing jack ****.&nbsp Hell, I did a lot of web construction (K2RD back then) that's being transferred over to my new FC3S Pro website right now - yes, getting paid and building a website; on top of that I used to answer a LOT of posts on here during work...at $20/hour, you still complaining?

I'm sorry, but you "complaining" about being able to race and not having the responsibility of not running the shop leaves a bad taste in my mouth.&nbsp I've come across people like you too - just want to race.&nbsp Usually, people like that have very poor customer service skills, and the business ends up financing their racing endeavors.&nbsp I don't find that "compromise" agreeable - I would rather take care of customers to the utmost of my ability; the customer comes first in this case, not the racing.&nbsp Another reason why I left K2RD...

Seeing as this is turning into a utopia of a perfect shop, there is good reason why it's taking me a long time to get everything straightened before diving into starting one.&nbsp I'm a perfectionist freak...

I am in no way slamming your wife's endeavor or her business - in fact I sympathize for her in this situation, oddly enough.&nbsp Good luck with both yours and her businesses...

Ted-
Nice post! Thanks for clearing things up. In an effort to clear things up on my end here are some more details. I am not involved in the operation of Rising Sun Used Parts essentially because I dont want to be. I have enough on my plate trying to do 4 or 5 Pro races a year and keep demonspeed going. We have been in business for 8 years this April. The racing end gets funded by sponsors, not the Company. While demonspeed has sponsored teams in the US FF 2000 series, the Grand Am Series, the NASCAR Goodys Dash series and others, we do not spend Company money on our own racing program. I am not saying that you dont know people that do what you described, I am just saying that is not what we do. You have no idea what kind of person I am so dont compare me to others.
Ask around, I dont think you will find many complaints in the way of our customer service.
Have a great weekend!
Take care-
Douglas

This thread is getting ugly quick!

If I would have known it was going to turn out like this, with people pointing fingers at each other, I wouldn't have posted it in the first place!

I have asked the moderators to delete this entirely. We will see what happens.

I am in no way trying to destroy Susans business. If I were, I could do a lot better job! I just want my freakin part!!!!!

I have dealt with both RXTASY1 and DEMONRACER. I like both of them and, I will be happy to do business with both of them in the future.

I see this as a misunderstanding only. It will in NO way keep me from buying/selling where either one of them is involved. I trust BOTH of them with my money.

They will get this straight, if they try. I see a customer that is unhappy. I see a seller that is new and overworked. Please, talk to each other.

Seller, you do though, have the burden of making your customer happy.

Mike

OK..... It has been 2 full weeks, 14 days, and nothing has come in the mail.

Call me what you want, but I am anything but "over anxious"!!
Either the package was lost, or it wasn't sent in the first place.
I even called my local post office to see if maybe they had any packages with my name on them in some obscure pile there. Nope!
I also asked them if the mail is moving slowly. Nope!
I asked them how long it would take a package to get from Florida to Idaho. 1 week tops!

I have 1 week to find a S5 manifold and get my engine started. If I wait longer than 30 days from the time I received my engine and it's bad, I am out $900!

If Susan would have asked me in the first place, how I wanted it shipped, I would have sprung for the extra $25 to have a confirmed tracking number and delivery date.

I will definately post here, IF it ever shows up, but at this point in time, it looks highly unlikely.
