REW swap question...

Hello everyone,

A buddy of mine recently swap a 3 rotor into his FD and he has a REW for me with 120k miles(ouch). the original owner gave him all of the paper work from mazda on the work thats been done to it. the car and engine was taken care of and all. but still 120k miles.

Now my goal is to take out the TII that i have right now and swap it with a RE. but seeing how the REW makes more power, im wondering if its worth it. the RE cost 1500 with shipping and his selling me his REW for a thousand. now im down for a second opinion on this because i want the best "bang for the buck"

Thanks

REW makes more power? are you sure? I'd go with the RE.

Dude, go with the RE... the ports and manifold flow way better than an REW and it swaps in easily. RE has smaller turbos than the REW and that's one of the reasons why it was rated for less power. The power output of the two motors (on paper anyway) doesn't matter, you will want to go single with either of them. The major drawback of the RE is the restrictive exhaust ports, which can be fixed when the motor is torn down.

The 13B-REW, if it does have that many miles on it, is dead or close to dead.
It should be enshrined and put on display for being able to get that many miles out of it!

If you do chose the 13B-REW, it needs a rebuild NOW.

Cosmo 13B-RE's for $1,500?!??!
)@$%)&, talk about inflation...
We used to get them under $1,000 before cause the motors don't fit into anything brought into the USA.

I'd rebuilt and port your current motor for a better investment on the money you're spending.

You do realize you're going to have to add several thousand dollars more if you go either 13B-REW or Cosmo 13B-RE?
I think you have no idea what you're getting yourself into...

the ports on the RE is one of the reasons why i want it.....and what you said makes sense.

and yes 1500 ehfing dollars...hell the TII goes for a grand now...we use to be able to get them for 650 with a 200 dollar shipping.....and i got a pretty damn good idea on what im doing...im just thinking money wise. both of them are gonna cost money...but i think one cost more than the other....

besides "fast car no money" is what arghx says...i think im just gonna stay with the RE..
