Exclamation reverse lights get stuck

this is on my s4 na 5 speed.

ok I pulled my trans out not to long ago to clean and replace seals and its back in now and I noticed that when I put it in reverse to back out i noticed that when its out of reverse and in 1st gear my reverse lights stay on.
I put it in reverse and back to neutral a few times to get it to turn off.
kind of weird.
Im thinking that maybe I have the two bullet connectors reversed???

what would cause this?

I'm thinking the guts of the switch are sticking. The guts being the internal contacts.

OR the wires that enter the switch have their insulation worn off and are intemittently touching each other........but if that were so then the lights would come on intermittently even if you were in neutral or any other gear.

well I know the wires arnt stripped I was wondering if maybe I got the wires crossed some how.
But they didnt differ between each other, both bullet connectors and wires are the same.

Switching the two wires on the switch wouldn't matter. All that's needed is continuity when the switch is pressed. My guess would be what Hailers suggested: sticky switch.

AZ switch

ok sounds good.
would it be possible that my mazda trix short shifter would be the cause? because it never did that before I pulled the trans out and replaced all the seal and added the MT short shifter.
