Reverse has Grind? WTF.
So after concluding that my clutch sucks and the fluid needs be changed as well as add fluid to the bottom of my shifter (where the ball is inserted), i go to back out of my parking space, and i had the clutch litterally floored, and i could not engage reverse. All i got was a good 'ole grind and then i stopped trying. Also grinds randomly when selecting higher gears (still with clutch all the way in), and then after selecting a gear it would rev up then i would let off then the car would seem to catch itself and then begin accelerating again.
All i want to know is wtf is wrong. And i am deffinately going to have to change the clutch and all the fluid, but do you guys reccomend i take apart the tranny and inspect all the gears and bearings and replace anything that needs replacing?
I was thinking getting this clutch and a whole new gasket set and maybe even replace the slave cylinder? IDK, i just want to drive it without worries of another clutch slip or gear grind.

Im guessing its just your clutch. Your tranny should be fine. My Z has a leaking slave cylender and i have to refill it ever couple days. I get the same symptons that you have. Try bleeding it also you could just have air in the system too if its not leaking.

I'd check/replace your master cylinder before you do anything else if you aren't losing fluid as it sounds like pressure is bleeding off. An easy way to test is have the car running in 1st gear with the clutch depressed and hold it for a couple minutes. if you can feel it start to grab at any point you have weak hydraulics

Hello, just remember that when replacing the master cylinder you replace the slave at the same time. When and if you replace them and the car is still giving you trouble, those grinds and having difficulty shifting into gear are most likely a sign of your syncros gears inside your tranny going bye-bye. Once that happens you have 2 options, buy a used tranny for cheap or take yours off and get it rebuilt. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna get some racingbeat stuff (i.e. clutch, trans throwout bearing, stainless steel clutch line, new gaskets, etc.)
Where should i look for a new master and slave cylinder? Would Advanced Auto or Autozone be okay? Or should i stick with online vendors for the FC?

I would asume that autozone or what ever would be fine. But if your a purist then go to the dealer or online and get oem. I picked put the one for my Z from the dealer for like $45.
