I have an 86 Rex. Everytime i trun the key the antenna motor makes a wierd grinding sound when the antenna is up. (the antenna also doesnt pull up all the way), when it is pulling down it makes a wierd click twice right when the antenna is about to recess in.
Anyone know wut i can do?

Do yourself a favor. Replace it with a regular whip type antenna..

If your local stations have good signal strength, just use the windshied in-glass antenna.
Then you can remove the rear antenna & plug the hole.

I'm actually running a 10 meter ham antenna back there.
(gives my car that RC model look)

When I got the car, the antenna had been snapped off. I bought a universal replacement electric antenna from Best Buy, ~$50. Fit great, and works great.
