the car buzzes at you at 7k so just shift... if thats not enough for you get a shift light. Still not enough drive an auto. And I seriously doubt hitting 8k every once in a while is gonna hurt it since the s5 n/a redlines at 8k anyways.

How can you not notice the big light... I find them totaly obnoxious though even those little tiny ones in the dash on some cars.

The ariel atoms i have driven didn't have shift lights.... I think im in tune with any vehicle enough to know when im past useful power range/bouncing revs..... i could be wrong and they atoms could be stupid for not having them...... shiftlights/buzzers useless (unless you want to save gas:-)) i hate to sound like a jerk but maybe you should adjust your driving not the car.i datalog myself shifting at 6498 6522 6494 all day long in my rx7... shift light who? it must be a drag race thing

Yeah, but to run that constantly you need to check clearances, upgrade the bearings (and use lock screws on them), increase the oil pressure, and change a few other bits past 8500... not to mention you have to prevent water pump cavitiation, and ideally, you need to have a scatter shield and balanced...everything.
A stock engine will be fine at 8K though, and the occasional 9K isn't going to hurt it as long as that's not your normal shifting point.

The stock buzzer doesn't help for **** when you miss a gear, do donuts or get sideways. Not to mention some turns will require you to wind out 1st or 2nd with just enough room to not justify shifting to 3rd and downshifting again. I always hated how our cars never had rev limiters.

Uh, wut?
Most street transmissions aren't going to have ratios suited for racing, hence why we will always find ourselves needing a Second and a Half gear, or a First and Three Quarters gear.
We definitely have rev limiters.
